1. Anything that encourages more tanks should be encouraged not discouraged. There aren't enough tanks.
2. You cant stop people from being bad. People fate/quest grind/weekly exp reward jobs all the time where you don't 'learn' the jobs in a traditional dungeon setting. Not to mention I have never played sch yet I have it thanks to smn. You think someone fate grinding pld to 30 will make them a good drk?
3. Way to (not so subtly) claim drk as the hardest tank by singling it out trying to keep the edgelords away from the precious. Who cares. Let people play what they want. All the proposal would do is shift bad drks into bad war/plds or remove them from tanking all together. Theres no reason for that.
If you cant handle scrubs, don't do roulettes. You sign up for a whatever the heck you get in a rando DF. If you don't like dealing with the hodgepodge of crap then don't cue. Find friends and avoid the randos if it bothers you so much.

Yeah, that threat combo, aoe threat ability, single target ranged pull, and tank stance they get at 30 is much more difficult than the threat combo, the aoe threat ability, single target ranged pull, and tank stance the other tanks get at 30.The issue is that learning to tank on Dark isnt as easy as Warrior or PLD.Thats why it would be better to make them learn the basics atleast on one of the other jobs to prepare them properly for Dark. Also try giving advice to people who have other level 70 classes. You will generally get flamed or ignored.
Yet in ignorance you demand paladin/warrior be a requirement.
.
The fact of the matter here is people who refuse to learn/teach as the people progress in this game.
Gating Dark Knight will fix nothing. If anything it just makes it worse.
I would also argue that Dark Knight is EASIER to learn how to tank with....granted some end game skills are not as straight forward - but the enmity/generators/aggro grabbing tools where easy to figure out. It just takes practice.
I've lost count how many paladins/warriors I've encountered that are horrible tanks...vs dark knights who have an easier time with the game.
You ASSUME way to much here.
I know I've replied before, but I've read through some of your replies since then and just want to say... that Dark Knight was my first tank at cap; 60 at the time. I leveled PLD and WAR to 35 to get my CCs back in 3.15 then mained Dark Knight from that point onward. Even having leveled the two jobs before it I had no idea what I was getting into until the late 50s. The reason for that; which is a common complaint from most new players, is that the game does not teach. At all. Hall of novice is not enough to teach you CD usage or how to properly rotate them, it doesn't explain how to start a pull, or tell you to read your tooltips, nor explain potencies, the combo system, and it most certainly it doesn't explain what procs are or why you should care about them.
Many of the things we learn come not from the game telling us, but through countless hours of experience and running content. Nothing is taught in this game, so your argument that one must needs level one of two jobs that also teach nothing, to play a job that is only marginally more difficult to play is a lukewarm argument that doesn't stand on its own when faced with the facts. People learn at different speeds, and while there are some who don't care, limiting a person's options is not the way to solve the solution when you yourself fail to understand what your actual problem is.
It is not with the jobs, nor with the players, your problem at its core is that the game fails to properly teach and train a player to perform their job or their acceptably.
This has been a problem from the start, and no amount of prodding a bad player to git gud, gating or otherwise is going to change that.
Controller players have more slots— without custom keybinds and key modifiers like alt/ctrl —to put skills on than PC players do actually. A full one hundred twenty-eight slots across our eight hotbars of sixteen.
Also don't just assume that all controller players are on console, I myself won't touch K/M with a 90 yard pole due to a wrist injury I suffered several years back and have always played with controller.

About the controller issues sorry i didnt clarify it right what i meant.I meant with the fact of your main bar you can display only has a certain amount of slots. With pc it's easier because you can have rows of icons as opposed to when you are switching between triggers to see whats on cooldown etc.
Another ignorant reply. If you'd bother to read what i was talking about i was mentioning the affect if was having on 'NEW' players?
Am i a NEW player? No.
DF players are 50/50 trash so yeah if i was bothered how it affected my personal gameplay i wouldnt waste my time with it in the first place.

You can do the same thing on console.About the controller issues sorry i didnt clarify it right what i meant.I meant with the fact of your main bar you can display only has a certain amount of slots. With pc it's easier because you can have rows of icons as opposed to when you are switching between triggers to see whats on cooldown etc.

You can add extra bars and put there all the colddowns you cant see to watch the recast, there is no diference.About the controller issues sorry i didnt clarify it right what i meant.I meant with the fact of your main bar you can display only has a certain amount of slots. With pc it's easier because you can have rows of icons as opposed to when you are switching between triggers to see whats on cooldown etc.
Dark knight is harder at higher levels but at level 30 it's easy. War and old are easy at higher levels and harder at lower but whatever
