when you leave and come back? Say ( GODS FORBID) my PC " baroke " and it would take a bit to get another or fixed. IF I came back after a couple of months or a year would I still have access to ALL of the items I had before?

Except your house. You will lose it 45 days after the last entering.
Your housing stuff can be reclaimed up to 35 days after loosing your house.

If you have to take a break for some reason(broken PC, short on money, military deployment, new gaming interest, jail stint, whatever) you dont risk losing much. As Legion said, your house will be reclaimed after 45 days(if you even have one). But you can keep your levels, your quest completions, your items, and all your achievements. Just remember your login info(acct name and pass) and you can re-subscribe in the future when things look better for you. Youll be able to pick up right where you left off.

You don't lose anything but your house. You will just need to relearn buttons probably. They add and change actions and traits. Stormblood got a huge face lift when it came to condensing and simplifying each class/job
