I see you have Marauder/War as your main, OP. I'm going to imagine you didn't MT or Provoke, either of which would've netted you full credit or nearly full credit, as these bosses are based on threat dealt.

You probably shouldn't complain about not getting credit for trying to go solo on something that's designated for GROUP content... in a MMORPG...
There's plenty already you can do solo if you hate partying for couple mins that much... in a MMORPG...
Provoke doesn't work on FATE enemies or hunts, unfortunately.
WAR does seem the best for generating the most enmity over a long period of time between its DPS cooldowns and Onslaught, though. I feel like DRK might be better for short term situations like ARR hunts, however, since their DPS/enmity generation is focused strictly on Dark Arts, where as WAR needs to use Storm's Path first for maximum output.
In a fate where dozens of people are hitting a single mob at one time, it's to be expected that the contribution of a group of 8 people would grant you more credit than going solo at it. I understand not wanting to be forced into a team for something, but when it comes to world bosses in an MMO this isn't all that strange a thing to happen, nor is it an unreasonable one.
If it makes you feel any better, getting all rewards for Ixion now that rewards for gold rank have increased is significantly easier than it was at the start of SB, so you shouldn't have to bother with this thing more than two or three times... provided you get full credit of it those times.
Don't forget there is a maximum of slots on the enmity list of enemies.
If your not on the list you get no contribution.
You can check it if you are looking at your enmity bar.
It fills or you have an enmity order number? Gratz your on the enmity list and get contribution.
It doesn't fill or you have no enmity order number? Too bad, but you don't get contribution.
This phenomen can be seen by all huge bosses, like S-Hunts, Ixion or others of this type when a huge crowd of people try to kill it.
Possibly the dumbest thing about this fact is that you aren't actually considered be in combat until you register on the enmity list, meaning Flamethrower won't generate heat among other annoyances.Don't forget there is a maximum of slots on the enmity list of enemies.

How hard is it to put the word Inv in the shout chat?
this. even if I joined late, I'd switch to DRK and get partial or full credit.
Huh...
Well.
Depending on how much the FATE has scaled, even on a tank job you don't have the guarantee of getting full credit. I understand you wanna "play your way" and all, but this game has certain features that won't allow you to do so. It might be bad for you, but don't forget you're playing an MMO, not a single player game. You can do certain stuff alone, but others it's better if you group up with other people. This is one of those. If you really want to play alone and the way you want, bear in mind that there are certain content that you won't be able to complete.
If we were on Hyperion, I'd introduce you to some of my friends.

By that logic, should dungeons be scaled based on party size, thus allowing you to solo them? The whole purpose of FFXIV in general is group activity. They want to incentivise partying together, and that stance isn't going to change.
