    Stars in the Dark

I really enjoyed the conversations we’ve had with the Mol, but there’s something that I’ve been wondering about for a while. The words that Temulun Khatun said to us. She speaks these words to us alone:
“A singular radiance. Shimmering. Like a jewel of the Dusk Mother, blinding in its brilliance. Stars flicker and flock to you. Before such gathered light, even the secrets of the gods may be laid bare. Some are fated to rise in grace and glory. Others to falter and fade, though not from memory. Both will be your strength and salvation come the end. Cherish the stars and the light they bring you in the dark. For you are a traveler, are you not?”
I don’t understand what she meant and I wish we could ask her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My understanding is that you, the Warrior of Light, attract lots of different people to yourself because of how you are a larger then life figure. Having all those different people focused around one thing leads to them finding out things (especially about the world) that they couldn't have found out if they weren't all gathered around one place (around the Warrior of Light). Some of those people survive and get famous in their own right (Alphinaud, Lyse). Others die and are forgotten by other people, but not by you (Minfillia, Papalymo). Both of those different kinds of people are what give you your strength/will to fight/etc. Temulun is telling you to appreciate the different people around you since they give you direction as to where you are going/will go.

There's a lot of different allegories to make out of it depending on what you think Nhaama, the Dusk Mother is. She almost seems here like the Xaela version of Hydaelyn, only that's never stated anywhere in the game (and if Nhaama is Hydaelyn, who would Azim be then?). She also could be one of the more prominent members of the Xaela kami or their take on the Twelve and exist alongside Hydaelyn (like how everyone in Ishgard makes reference to Halone).

I didn't understand it at first, but looking back...

Temulun is basically reminding you that you have an important mission, and that you need to rely on and learn from others to accomplish it. Others gather around the Warrior of Light because of their radiance, their strength and conviction, and through their gathered allies the Warrior of Light may come to find the truth of Hydaelyn that none know. Some of their allies will rise in greatness. Some of their allies (and many enemies) will perish, but should not be forgotten. From both they must learn, because only with the points of light they provide can the Warrior of Light find their way through the darkness.

In other words, it's a call to humility - to not forget that, no matter how powerful and capable the Warrior of Light may be or become, they cannot do it all by themselves. They need to learn from others, allies and enemies alike, and as ObsidianFire said should value them.

... that's my take on it, anyway.

Yeah. That was my take too. It did make me VERY interested in whatever the Gods of the Mol are who are feeding them these visions. Curious that the Mol's instructions from their Gods line up exactly with what we need when we get there right down to Hein being found and healed back to health. The Azim Steppe holds a lot of unanswered mysteries.

So 2+ years later this finally makes all the sense in the world after the revelations of patch 5.3. DAMN.

It's terrifying how much Ishikawa's writing skillfully foreshadows to an extent we aren't aware of, until this far up. She must have had this idea in the works for quite a while.

This does raise the question of what "gods" are actually whispering to the Mol tribe, seeing as they seem to be quite on target.

This quote was literally what popped into my head the moment we learned what Azem's role in the Convocation was. Very nice job on the foreshadowing Ishikawa.

Not sure if this is new, or at least new to 5.3, but Cirina has dialogue in regards to this.

Honestly I sincerely hope they keep exploring this because damn it it isn't interesting.
