    Necromancer is so much more than just having a pet. They are often amazing hemomancers, they can wield the power of blood, sinew and bone. They spread the chill of the grave, and even diseases if neccessary.

    I am in love with the concept of a Necromancer, and I wouldn't mind XIV doing a new take on the said job.

    I like the idea, but I don't think it fits thematically with FFXIV. The game's a bit too bright and cheerful for a Necromancer to fit in, in my estimation.

    Personally I'd rather see SE pull a Chains of Promathia with the next expansion, and not release any new jobs at all. Spend the time they'd normally put into balancing and developing the new jobs into giving us some really deep content and polishing up the significant pile of content that could be relevant and entertaining if only someone went back with the benefit of hindsight. Give us some ability boosts a la Merit Points or certain types of gear (they could always balance content around the base, non-augmented abilities). Adding a couple of new jobs on top of a pile of shallow content isn't going to really get me excited, speaking personally.

    I actually think the same thing; polish up balance between the existing classes a bit more. Right now, the "meta" (eyeroll) groupings for DPS are NIN, DRG, MCH, and BRD (and maybe SMN). Their contribution to raid DPS is just that much superior that other jobs can be a pain to find a place in farm parties (or even a static to begin with; not much of a choice of 15 jobs when the community forces you into 8 or 9 of them). This should not happen, ideally. Granted, it's a fault on the players and the community to taking it to such measures (I am not getting into the whole it's their party, people can choose what and who they want to run with), given that the game is balanced around any group composition consisting of no more than one of any given job can clear current content. I think SE did a pretty good job with tanks and healers this expansion.

    Honestly I think dancer will be the next healer due to its popularity and how people were extremely disappointed that it was not the new healer for stormblood prior to the announcement of the 2 dps jobs.

    But we will find out in november.

    Well I do agree that Dancer is inevitable. But we may not see it till Yoshie can make it work in an interesting way. I mean I love me some dancer, but what would it do that the other healers don't? And who said we will get only one new healer? Stormblood gave us two dps. Maybe this time we will get two healers. Or maybe the'll turn Dancer into an evasion tank and give us a tank and a healer. Or I'm just out of my mind. Who knows?

    For 5.0, it's pretty much be expected that if we do get two jobs, it'll likely be one tank and one healer just to keep the number for each of those roles even.

    As for Dancer, although it does have the potential to fit any role (and even I've made enough Dancer concepts to show that), I think the expectation for it to be some sort of melee healer has grown so much over the years due to desires of not only the job, but other mechanical features such as a non-caster healer that there'd probably be a greater uproar if it wasn't a healer, moreso than that of DRK for not being a DPS or SAM for not being a tank.

    I do agree though that we won't have it until Yoshi gets it "just right" as he put it.

    Here is how I think Necromancer should be implemented into this game:

    Replace Summoner with it, make Summoner a new job that actually is a true Summoner job.
    Replace Egis with Zombies. Said Zombies would be like the friendly ones from Hildibrand questline. This would make it more lore-friendly and less taboo.
    Change things like Dreadwyrm Trance to Lich Trance or something, same effect and all but named more appropriately for a Necromancer.

    Why do this instead of make it a new job? Because let's be honest here: the current Summoner job is a lot like a typical Necromancer job, only it doesn't deal with the undead. Necromancers and DoTs just mesh imo. Some abilities wouldn't need to change at all to fit a Necromancer's repertoire!

    That much is true. DoTs and Summoning was more or less what Necro did in FFV. With the added bonus that the DoTs were aquired via blue magic.

    But we DPS got plenty of nice tools for us and it is time for tanks and healers to play a bit. I might be biased but I think this is more unique than simply making a healer that saaaay uses TP as a resource but essentially acts the same as the three we have now.
