Dear all:
I know I don't misrepresent the feelings of others when I say that the entire world feels Japanese these days. And we, Final Fantasy XI and XIV players have a somewhat closer bind than many do. In my case, Final Fantasy, has only been one of many of the cultural manifestations of your nation that have entranced me for years. And I know well that, in that respect, in these forums, and within these games' communities, I am far from a singular case.
The world owes so much to the genius, the hard-work ethics, the inventiveness and the high-mindedness of the Japanese; the influence of the culture is so vast, that sometimes it becomes easy to overlook. Film, Food, Engineering, Design, Technology, Fashion, Science, Architecture, Literature, the Arts in general... The global landscape in any of these disciplines--and many more--would not be the same without the contribution of Japan.
But all of that sounds abstract in comparison to the affection that the quiet and deep intensity of the Japanese has collected from our hearts as friends, companions, spouses, classmates, colleagues, mentors, even fellow Linkshell members.
So it's not only out of altruistic concern for our distant fellow men and women, but because we feel so much of all of you in all of us (and this time, again, I feel no fear to misrepresent the feelings of the group) that I want to send this message of sincere emotional solidarity, from all of us, to all of you.
I--perhaps I should say "we"--hope the feelings it carries will be at least a speck of comfort in what must be very stressful and trying days. Our gaze is fixed to our television screens, we mourn the recent past and your losses with you, as well as hope the best of what is to come.
Here's looking forward to the day (may it be soon) that we'll be playing together again, happy and carefree.
Very affectionately,
Rutelor
