    Criticism

There was a time that each of us used to be new players to this game, we know for sure that some of us had the misfortune to suffer our errors as first timers and then be criticized for our mistakes. But my question is how do you used to take criticism in the past and also how do you take criticism till this day? I used to get criticized as a newcomer in the past very frequently enough to feel sad and hurt, luckily i'm the very stubborn type of not giving up easily and willing to keep going without stopping until all the way to morning if i keep losing, its like dark souls, some people will either keep going and not willing to give up because they are way too determined for the goal of winning or they will give up and stop trying and even stop bothering of not willing to learn their mistakes and get better the next time and rather go hollow. Over the time i manage to get the experience and tolerance to tolerate that kind of criticism and even harassment enough to let it go and keep going forward. So i'm curious of how some of you used to take the criticism in the past from other players and also till this day too. So lets talk about this kind of experience when we used to be new players. (sorry for the edits i type way too fast enough not to see some errors)

I play on a JP server so I'll never know if someone criticizes me

Same way I do in real life: I take a moment to ponder if what the person is saying has merit, review it and then thank the person for the info. If I can apply what the person has told me to do right away I will. If not, I'll just inform the person its gonna take me a bit of time to get used to it.

This is all assuming the criticsm is spoken at the very least in a neutral way. I'm not dependent on politeness. I just want civility.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

This....This right here. criticism can be helpful as long as it's said right. If s person says to me "Hey! I see you're doing this, it might be better if you do things like this instead" Then yes I'll be more willing to listen and try what the person is saying to see for myself if it is indeed better. If the persons criticism comes in the flavor of wall of insults, curses and "plz uninstall and kys", etc then their existence will be ignored.

I outright ask for it and so long as it's constructive I'm more than happy to receive it. When I'm not playing a class optimally I'll either seek out a guide or someone I know who can play it much better and ask for their help. If I'm terrible, I beg them to tell me so I can find out where to improve. This hasn't changed since I started playing and I doubt it will going forward. Constructive criticism is only harmful if you're too rigid to receive it- and no matter who 'good' you might now consider yourself to be you should still appreciate that someone took the time to actually care enough to try and provide help. Even if you find it not in the least bit useful, it's rare for people to actually try and offer aid when most players are generally too apathetic to care.

All that said however, don't be a dick when dishing out said criticism. If you can't be kind and concise, then at least avoid devolving into petty insults whilst remaining civil. There's no faster way to ensure your advice remains unheeded than by resorting to name calling or a derogatory tone.

I know some criticism can be constructive as you say which is so true on that because you can pretty much learn but there are also the type of negative critics that sadly discourage some people in general enough not to be motivated on whatever they are working on. Sorry i should be specific with the tittle but i hope you understand the point of this topic.

I do understand the point...? It's why I added the second part to begin with. You asked us for our stances on the matter, I provided mine and made sure to clarify the difference between constructive and nonconstructive criticism and why the latter won't get people anywhere. Not entirely sure what else I should be saying? If you could clarify more it'd be appreciated. Do you want us to discuss only negative criticism?
