I dont really care for a ranking system. Why's everything got to be a competition? Just play the game and have fun with it. If you want to be competitive go do PvP.

How exactly would you "troll the crap out of" anyone without tanking your rank and dropping to a lower tier? For PvP purposes placing people of similar skill level together makes sense to give them a chance to figure things out before they get roflcoptered into the ground.
For PvE purposes I'd troll the crap outta your group for the giggles alone with this system. And remember no complaining while I do it, we'd be the same "rank" after all, so I know what I'm doing and you need to get with the program.
That's exactly what they would do. They would purposely drop their rank.
Or they use "smurf" (secondary) accounts.
This is rampant in other games that use ranking systems.
"Within each of us, the potential for great power waits to be released."
If there are only 3 ranks, for example, there's still going to be a massive gulf in player skill between the highest and lowest player in any given rank. Especially in gold, because people are constantly blowing SE's expectations out of the water. A sea of Gold+++ tier ratings would require, most likely, an utterly ridiculous number of poor/trolling performances to get dropped down.
Alternatively, your rank is based on only your last X number of runs. But even that would probably be open to griefing (no long-term consequences) and probably isn't what most people in favor of the two systems currently presented would want.
Give me a scoreboard or a parser with a dedicated lobby for this and I'll consider hopping in. If it's something that's intentionally meant to be a competition, instead of just making life miserable for lesser skilled/dedicated players, I wouldn't be opposed to it and would play around with it from time to time when in the mood. It's about the only excitement I get out of EX Roulette beyond the first run of the dungeon anyway - playing with enmity meters, that is, since I'm a PS4 slob and can't parse anything myself.I believe the bottom line of what the OP was getting at is "would you be ok with being matched only with players with your amount of skill/knowledge/effort put in"? I know a lot of people I've run into feel like they play "well enough" and while they admit there is room for improvement they don't feel like they should bother doing more than their definition of "well enough".![]()

lol What tool? Segregation? That's all this is. If you don't want to chance playing with a player that's not up to your standards you shouldn't be queueing up with random people. The solution is to develope your social skills and make friends with people you want to play with.
This is a "solution" for the lazy anti-socials that think they're all that and don't want to mix with the peasants.
This was more towards putting like minded players in the same group.
Pretty much this too.I believe the bottom line of what the OP was getting at is "would you be ok with being matched only with players with your amount of skill/knowledge/effort put in"? You're missing the point of what I was saying. I don't think OP intended for a ranking system to be implemented at all. To me it was exactly the question of whether or not people would be fine with playing solely with others who put the same amount of effort in at any given time as they do. People have homed in on the notion of ranking and competition but the overall message the idea sends is that people seem like they wouldn't be ok with playing with others on their level on this game. Why that is one can only speculate.
Honestly though there's already a way to do precisely that. It's called making your own group of like minded individuals in a party and rolling with them instead. It's what I do when I can't be bothered to slog through content with people who might decide they'd rather be carried. If we aren't discussing a ranking system then that's pretty much all there is too it. If you don't want to be grouped with underachievers then the onus is on you to find people who share your same standards because you can't exactly implement such a thing properly /without/ a ranking system. Even a manual opt-in toggle will do little to no good because there are plenty of people in this game who think they're hot shit or want to be carried by better players. You legitimately can't create a system like this that will perfectly emulate the desired outcome because everyone's standards are different. You're missing the point of what I was saying.
