Hashmal has mechanics that require a small amount of teamwork and coordination from players... You know... That thing we used to have no problem with doing with random people over the internet in online games until like 10 or so years ago. >.>

Also just an FYI on Rockcutter. It is a tank buster however its also an unmarked short cone AoE. If you stand near the tank you will get hit by it as well so do not stand in front of Hashmal unless you either are not squishy or want to tank the floor.

If he jumps and your'e on the outside at the time, it can be nearly impossible to make it to the safe zone in time. Best tip there is "don't be on the edge", but these things happen sometimes.

"Staying with your alliance" is the reason why someone should put up the group markers. That goes well far more often with them.

Towers? I mean, sometimes people just midjudge where they're going to go by a bit.

It's the kind of fight where most stuff that happens is lethal, so the healers ability to save you from mistakes is much more limited. That's going to lead to more deaths, because among the general playerbase, mistakes happen.

I suspect you'd get get 10 different answers from 10 different people with regards to the lines between casual, midcore and hardcore.

In my eyes, it's as much down to the mentality and atmosphere within the group as it is their standard of play.

My Gordias group had a very laid back atmosphere and TS was filled with as much random chatter as it was anything to do with the raid at hand. Whilst we cleared A4S (admittedly rather late), it was very much a casual group IMO.

Move forward to Midas, a number of the more casual players retired and we took on some ex hardcore friends from my ARR days to fill the gaps. Whilst the group still made for pleasant company, there was more of a work ethic to TS chatter and such. Calls and strategies were more tightly defined rather than the mostly yolo approach we had before and as such, the group turned into a very solid midcore team in my eyes.

...but no, the casua/midcore player base in general really isn't that good. Mayhaps a representative of this player base can explain things to me?
I'm a casual who only gets weekly in because there better things to do, and I know what to do and I follow people when bad stuff is happening, I will mess up occasionally, but the trolls make running things not worth it even on a casual level...

Some people are new. Some people think being on the flaming arm side but away from the boss will dodge it. They're wrong, but it's very reasonable to think that and wonder why it didn't work. Personally, I find the only time I actually die on the fight is when the healers are dead and raid-wide damage accumulates, particularly during the golem phase. There's only so much you can do if your HP only ever goes down.

The fight is too 1-shotty. Same thing that made most of Coil frustrating, to be honest, except Coil had a smaller group + time limits on the fights, and therefore smaller allowable margin of error.

Ah yes, that's what I wanted to add to my post there. Thank you for pointing this out.

I can't speak for everyone when I say this but for me, its a whole lot harder to learn mechs from a fight that oneshots people. Especially if you have either a hard time seeing it or just can't see it at all. That's why I prefer mechs with vulnerability stacks. Vulnerability stacks, I feel, are an effective punishment because they cause dmg and basically tell you the next time you mess up, its going to hit harder. So you're basically given more chances to learn from the mech than just being swatted like a fly.

This is aimed mostly to mechs that more or less lead directly to wipes. I'm not referring to dps check mechs that lead to wipes.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

Agreed on the vuln stack thing. Vuln stack mechanics sometimes feel a little bit too omnipresent and overdone nowadays, but I do have to concede that it's a far better way of handling things than just having stuff kill you outright.

Because they don't care enough and will think that "oh well I guess I'll just like 23 other people do it lol" and this becomes problematic when the majority of the alliance shares this mentality.
