HUD, Gear Sets & Action Bars Constantly Reset

Ever since one of the patches in the first couple of months of Storm Blood's release I consistently log on only to find that everything has been defaulted and reset. My saved action bars, HUD display & gear sets are all gone. I also have experienced a message that says unable to find character configuration and it asks if I want to reset....well it doesn't give me any other option, so I end up having to reset and the same thing occurs where everything is defaulted. What is happening and how do you fix this....im up to 32 times now of having my stuff reset.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I'm assuming you play on PC correct? Did anything change that coincides with the resets? This information should be stored in a different location than the main installation, have you moved the Install Folder at all?

Can you provide a screenshot of the error message you are getting? This may help us figure out exactly how to solve your issue.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Hello Einmimiria,

Yes I do play on PC and have not made any changes to anything. I will post a screenshot of the message I get when it happens again. The weird thing is, I don't always get the unable to find character configuration message. Sometimes ill log in and everything will be reset without the message.

Silly question, but does your windows account have admin rights or is it a computer that maybe belongs to somebody else who may have created a login account for you? I only say this because it's possible to have an account on windows for each individual that uses the computer, and it is possible to limit a user login account to where that person does not have permission to modify or save files which would affect your ingame configurations. Things like hotbar settings are saved to your PC and if these things are resetting apon login, it's possible that you don't have save perms. If you are using an admin account or have admin access, try to right click on the game each time you start and click on "Run as Admin" and see if it saves the config files correctly.

Try this and post back. Even if it works, please post back and notify us as this can be used to help future players.

Whether this fixes your problem or not, I'm convinced the config file isn't being saved / updated. So if it's not this, then there is something else (possibly antivirus?) that is preventing the game to save the file.

I have to agree that something is wrong with the config files or the game isn't connecting with them properly.

These files should be in the 'My Documents' folder. Try to find them under My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV. Here, you'll find where all of your settings are stored (along with things like screenshots).

Check to see if these files are there or if the files are corrupted or in a 'Read-Only' state for some reason.

Is the game installed on the C Drive along with the operating system? If not, try to move the game install to the C drive to improve stability between those two folders.
