Relic question from returning player

I took a break starting around 2.5, so I've been away for about 3 years. I was last on my Novus relic I believe. Is it worth continuing the relic quest as I catch up, or is there a new weapon type that makes it obsolete?

your 2.x relic was made obsolete by the 3.x relic which was made obsolete by 4.0 and soon there will be the new relic weapon/armor introduced in 4.25. There is no point in working on an old relic unless you want it for glamour/acheivements.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't sure if it was the type of thing that I needed to regularly upgrade to get to the current tier.

Doing Heavensward relic ( anima ) has some benefits if your leveling up multiple jobs you can do them and knock out some achievements. They have been nerfed sooo much it's a bit disappointing yet should still be worth something later on. Currently doing it as a time killer raising jobs for the heck of it.
