Question about the new glamour system being implemented in 4.2

I was wondering, and I expect I'll only get more info once the patch notes are out (or we get to play with it ourselves), will the dyes carry over?

Say I dyed something in pure white. Will it carry over to my mirage dresser? Will I need to re-apply it?

Also, one of the slides said you could only use ensembles inside cities, inn-rooms and other safe areas. Does that mean I can only -equip- them in safe areas? Or does it mean I can only wear them in safe areas? I hope it's the former because otherwise... What's the point of glamouring if we can only have them in safe zones?

That would be a total killer for me personally.

What do think? Did they ever talk about the glamour system since then?

    Slides in question:

So far as I'm aware, it works like placing items into the Armoire so it'll get reset back to its default appearance when you place it in the Commode.

The former. Once applied you can wear them anywhere just like normal glamours, but you need to be in one of the specified areas before you can actually apply it.

If this is the case, it will be a downgrade when it comes to dye, seeing as you'd need to apply it over and over... Fine when it's crafted dye, but what about the rare dyes/cash-shop dyes?

Not only will you have to reapply dyes for every outfit, but it's also likely you won't be able to retrieve any items to use them as normal glamour. That would mean being only able to use 50 left side glamour pieces at once out of all the ones you've stored. I think the best use for this wardrobe is the opposite of what is intended which is to put in the less used and more easily obtained glamours which don't need dyed. Like beast tribe costumes, GS gear or dungeon drops.

If I remember correctly, they came out and specified that you can convert items back and forth; putting them into the Commode isn't supposed to be a permanent thing. It was either mentioned here or on reddit, can't remember which and I can't be assed to go dig it up.

As for what to do with items holding rare dyes, simply don't put them into the Commode and just glamour them like normal. Ensembles aren't replacing glamours and can in fact be used in conjunction with them. If you're worried about them continuing to take up space, don't forget that Chocobos are getting 70 or so inventory spaces with the patch too.

Isn't the first item in that picture of a glamour commode dyed yellow?
seems like pretty good evidence it stays to me...

Oh, for some reason I thought that it was going to replace the old glamour system entirely. If that isn't the case, all of my worries have been averted!

I just noticed that. Now I feel silly, I should have had a closer look at the pictures. Good catch!

I watched the official English patch notes video and the ladies there said that we should only store gear which we don't intend to use anymore. I don't understand why they would emphasize that if we could remove the items at will.
