Bots are a massive problem in pvp, gathering, and rmt. It affects gamelay tremendously. I have even seen it in pve.
You claim they don't hurt the game?
PVP is ruined my cousin said his record was pretty good until the bots came into the picture and he stopped playing it even the new one that came out he hasn't even tried it, he said it pretty much ruined the experience for him.
The devs are banking on there being fewer people like yourself who will consider quitting over inaction than the number of people they have to ban for such activity. Also, they have to allot resources to combat the bots if they don't ignore the problem.
The perceived lack of action is one aspect. Another is the punishment for botting is not a permaban, so even if the STF were to take action on your report, you'd still see that bot until they've reached the limit that gets them a perma.
People who benefit from them. That includes crafters who get cheaper mats, players leveling that can put in little effort to complete FATEs since they can let the bots do the majority of the work, PVPers who get easy wins and of course, the botters themselves, who get exp, progress and gil while afk.
One or more of three things need to happen for the devs to take notice on a topic such as this:
1. Massive dissatisfaction by the player base
2. The game receives bad press
3. The situation reaches a breaking point
yeah they get banned and make another account and bot lvl that up then bot farm everything but after the if your paying for a new sub and having your bot banned after a few days you might not want to do it again because its starting to become expensive and nonviable. but not banning them at all well hell everyone might as well run a bot.
Like we have proof that bots arn't getting band so the only message it sends out is everyone might as well bot and we will make the game even more trivial
Overall, it really feels like SE lacks both the tools/resources and concern to properly track and ban bots.
I seriously doubt the gil sellers would be much of an issue if they were actually tracking where the farming bots are sending the gil to and purging the main "bank" account that holds all of the gil, rather then just the expendable farmers and transaction accounts.
Aside from players mentioning the gil, it actually was next to impossible once when I was trying to farm fleece. They had four bots, all of them were able to instantly attack the mobs the very instant they appeared. Basically they were spawning into a death animation because the bots were so fast. The only way anyone could even get any possible hit on them was to switch to Summoner or something and cast an aoe that lingered on the ground for a while where they'd spawn, and even then it seemingly did nothing for us. The bots were just too fast, and they were there for weeks.
Idk what your talking about, Gil mean allot for me, housing/Items/Crafting/Food/Glam/Gear.
Ok, this seem really wired I'm guessing he quit PvP in ARR then? Becouse PvP bots been a thing forever ain't like they started going to PvP yesterday xD
