PVP has already been planned out.
There will be a Colosseum in Limsa and a PVP island for larger scale battles
Its all in the concept art and timeline for 2.0
Just need to wait until then.
yeah but whats wrong with going to a specific zone or a Colosseum for that? the "open world" pvp i dont like is the "see a guy and ask to beat him up no matter where"Easily solved:

2. "Open World" PvP is usually not open world. It usually refers to a few zones that PvP is allowed in. Make those zones only reward PvP gear (i.e., gear that is useless for PvE) that way people like you can play without being expected to PvP.
You have to remember, a lot of us really want what you're so vehemently against; however, there's no reason we can't be bloodily maiming each other while you play with ponies in PvE land.
Edit: This isn't an untested idea either. It's been implemented with great results in other games.
im really not against pvp it just feels weird when you see people beating each other up randomly left and right in towns for example. it could be explained by laws as well so you wont set the next shop on fire with a firaga in town

I am all for pvp but I vote no for this idea simply I am against this kind of 1 on 1 which is impossible for balanced. Prefer wait until 2.0 for more large scale pvp where pts vs pts

Knowing SE, their version of PvP will be like XI's where everything works differently, including damage.
Why would there have to be complete rebalancing? Reduce damage taken and you fix every problem you can come up with in regards to anything being OP. A full Thunder combo doesn't sound too strong when it only does 1/4 of you HP in damage, just saying.
I am all for this even if it wouldn't be perfect. Don't like it? Then don't pvp. You shouldn't ruin other people's suggestion just because you don't want it. I mean really don't be like the people complaining about mounts.
I vote yes for PvP.
