    Ferries and Airships

    Just an idea for the distant future, but it would be great to have ambushes on ferries and airships - sort of like what you see in the intro for Limsa Lominsa. I'm thinking the mobs would have to be passive, because it would be a poor shame if anyone died on the trip there. They could just be level 10-15 mobs, just something to give new players something to gawk at on their first few ferry trips, since most higher leveled players use anima and chocobos to travel.

    No, make them high level mobs so that players have to run for cover and sit under deck clinging to each other in fear

    I heard there was something similar in ffxi, didn't play it but it sounded kinda interesting. People who don't want to fight just go downstairs the rest can stay on deck and hope the monsters of random level (1-current level cap) don't kill them off before the ferry reaches the docks. Add some sort of reward or/and achievement...

    Or maybe a random NM encounter, kinda like Sin (that was my first thought when i rode the ferry tbh)

    Well, just make the downstairs area a separate zone/instance. Alternatively, there are mobs that don't move beyond their assigned zones, the monster here would certainly be so

    True, and while it's frustrating at times i still think it would make some awesome memories... just like some epic party wipes i had.

    Or just do what Skies said, just make them go back at the door.

    I played FFXI for a while because of curiosity, and my noob character got chased by skeleton pirates down to the cargo hall. Pretty bad because there is one other player on the ship who's busy fighting the skeleton, while the other skeletons are busy corpse farming me (auto ressurect in the boat because I don't want to walk back to the boat from my revive point, it's far away from the port and you don't automatically get on the boat when it arrives like in XIV). So I have to pass on that.

    i think they should make ferries and airships open environment like in wow and knock out all the cut scene bs it was kool at first but cut scene to go up the elevator, cut scene to get off, teleport to get in the area, cut scene to get on the airship, cut scene to land and get off the air ship, teleport to the other side, cut scene to get into another elevator, cut scene getting out of it.........they have the skip function yay......y not just have a function to cut off the cut scenes all together

    I loved the random sea horror or pirate attack! Actually in XIV I rode the ferry back and forth hoping something would happen and was sad there weren't even whales or anything interesting to look at.

    More random encounters all over the entire game would be nice. Not all have to be an attacking mob but I always thought a behest that sometimes ended in a rare mob would make doing it more interesting.
