When there's demand, someone will create supply. I can't for the life of me understand WHY anyone would spend money on this, but I guess if you're rich it isn't any different than buying a coffee.

He sounds like he's joking but if he's not it's pretyy funny. 290$ lol, I am barely a midcore raider and I've had my genji sInce September. What a waste of money for something not that difficult. But it is his money. So he can do whatever dumb thing he wants with it imo.

Yes and yes. It would be worse if they weren't aware of it.
The GMs aren't dumb.
If they're no longer advertising in the pf, then that is the opposite of futile.
If the proof required is "Would you like to exchange real money for my services in clearing FFXIV content?" being said in chat, then it's not really against the ToS, is it? Any punishment given is more for being so unbelievably stupid.
While there are bad players who buy runs, there are also players who can do the content and buys too. There are serval reasons for that. When some content are sold we do prefer them to be done by us only that means 7 people that is our own while the guy is on the floor. But in some cases we do let them play and we even had one that was really good at it and been selling with us ever since. Players like these can't beat it in PF etc which is also very understandable, considering there is not that many great players left into a patch that's been out for 1 month or two.

$290 for an O4S clear?
30 seconds in Uldah tells me I could get ~160mil gil for that kind of dollar without any shopping around. I'll plead guilty to being out of the loop with sales now but at least as far as Chaos goes, I'm fairly certain an O4S clear+coffer hasn't cost anything like that much for a long time.
Sounds like a joke to me![]()
~ WHM / badSCH / Snob ~ http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/871132/ ~

I once sold my character in a previous MMO for the equivalent of around $2500 USD today.
The buyer was a very successful businessman, who loved video games, especially mmo's, but simply did not have the time to actually grind out getting a high level character and end game gear. In his mind, that $2500 was easily worth his own time saved. He just wanted to see the endgame content/gear.
So while certainly some of these buyers have no concept of what money is worth, I think you'd be surprised to learn that a lot of them actually DO, and realize that spending the money rather than putting in the time is a better opportunity cost for them.
I just wish my time was worth that much lol.

And on the other thread people were defending this practice saying there was no RMT involved.
Ahahahahah.
"You have a heart of gold. Don't let them take it from you!"
O4S has been selling for 150-200 before the lockout, seems right if he got it back then. I'd do that, 290 split 8; 36.25 towards a nice lunch/dinner.
I think you are misinformed. I can tell you that this is far from truth in many ways. I know A LOT of people wanting to clear stuff but cause people are selfish and can't be arsed helping others (even tho they beg for help , once they cleared they won't help at all) . There's a lot of people wanting to clear , join groups , practice etc etc but sadly groups are pretty shit (specially those who they called themselves "farm" .. just look at shinsex) so due to frustration of weeks and weeks and months and months of not being able to clear, they have no choice but to pay a static to clear.
And of course you get the "lazy" ones
1200 dollars for a single completion. Must be nice to be able to blow that kind of money on an hour or less that won't even mean anything in a few months, and not even in real life to boot. Congratulations, I guess. :/
