Less variety. Not a good thing, in my opinion.
They could design better reward (who will truly wear those helmets?) and give people something to do between patches. They could give us more rewards like instead of one bear we could farm for more. Also less but bigger events could mean better games too. Instead of just making it one fate you could have lots of interesting mini games. Yes those will get stale somewhere too but not as fast as one fate. Right now they are nothing more than simply: Go there, talk, watch a long cutscene and then do that one fate and get back. Sometimes you will be able to farm more items but that just means a handful of more fates..there is nothing fun it that for me..

In my view events could be used to give us something to do between patches but they are done so fast most of the time with barely any rewards that you are done in minutes..letting the events run for a longer time with more stuff to grind for could give us something to do and yet the main attractions could still be done in a reasonable time. (Kinda like the yokai or Garo event but with less of a grind and especially not fates..)

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I think your issue is that the event itself doesn't have much to do rather than the fact that there are too many events... I don't think the fact that we have a lot of events is a correlation to the reward we get, because these rewards are surely planned ahead of time. I think the only thing I can agree on is that the helmets aren't the best idea, but what can they give us otherwise? I'd rather a different reward than getting rid of the event altogether to add a reward to a different event.

[Edit here: Sorry misread your comment ^^;] You are right I have a problem with the length of them.

You talk about the make it rain campaign and the first one was great. The story behind the murder was really fun if short. But the last one..you did one quest and on top of that you also did get the amount of MGP needed to buy all the prices with the quest..there was no single need to grind or do it twice because you got everything with that. How is that fun? These events are for people that log in once to do them and then log out again..

I want to have long events, that will take some time to finish and are fun to do so. And since its quite obvious that they cant give us that with the amount of events it would be better if we have less but longer ones. You would not need two events in one month if they were more than just a couple of minutes long.

I'm not speaking for you. But your post wasn't clear enough for me. As far as events go, if you don't have a problem with how many there are, but want them to be longer, there's a rift between how to get there, because if their events are pre-planned, then they obviously know what they need to put out and how much staff they need to do it, and so on. It's not going to change unless something changes from their end, not ours.

How is a grind fun? Depending on the activity, it can be, but usually it isn't. FATEs are the problem here because it's all they fall back on. But let's say they do introduce a grind... how would you make it fun? Because fun for you might not be fun for someone else, granted, FATEs aren't fun for anyone, but at the very least it was a different way of doing the FATE for the Starlight Celebration, same with the FATE we had a while back for the Hatchingtide event.

So you are saying you want less events so that the resources go into bigger events, eg. All Saint's Wake, Starlight Celebration and Moonfire? I mean, Heavensturn and Valentione's Day don't seem to be big events for most people.

Eh, most people seem unhappy with Heavensturn, from what I've noticed. They're generally okay with other events, but I find the issue is that FATEs are a recurring problem. We had a FATE for the Christmas event, we had a FATE for the summer event, we had a FATE for the new year event. It seems to me that because the content is a FATE, people become disengaged and just auto-pilot the event. I'm guessing really the only solution is replacing the FATEs with duties? I mean The Rising didn't use a duty but it was pretty nifty for this year's event with the 2D puzzle, I think the only problem was the mystery of it was ruined by sharing the answers online but oh well, it was fun when it was new.

I do agree. Normally I'm not a fan of any FFXIV event due to them being mostly re-skins with a FATE thrown in for added boredom. I did however like that 2d puzzle dungeon and the year they did the Halloween haunted house dungeon. Just cause it was something new and different.

As far as New Years goes though, it's one of those holidays that probably would go over better if it was tied into a expanded Christmas event somehow instead of being its own event.

Sorry I misread your post (and seemingly edited to late since you still got my old quote). Yes the optimum for me would be the same amount of events that we have now but longer. But since somehow nearly every last event was really short I just get the feeling that SE is not able to give us longer events with the same amount that we have right now. Thus why I would find it better if we have less but longer ones. I know that this balance is not that easy but I still wanted to post my view on this.

I for example liked the Egg ones with the different kind of mini games. Or one of the old summer ones where we got different mini games too. (The one with the smei like dragon) Also I do enjoy the halloween one or the one with the murder.

I just find it bad that the make it rain event gave us everything with one quest...we did not even need to grind for that low amount of MGP..the winter one was often a daily event yet this time it was just fates again. Heavensturn was much more fun when we had go around and atleast do something more than clicking a pot in one fate..heck they also had just one item to buy (next to food) and this was with Gil.

I just want less cutscenes that take most of the time for the event and more time playing the event itself. I dont want grinds like the Yokai ones but I also want more time investment in an event than just one fate thus minutes. Give us the main price after maybe running the event five times. This way all those people that dont want to play it or have time to can still get the main thing. For example they could give us five mini games and you have to complete one each for the item. (And yes they should be mini games..not some fates...or at least some fun fates like the spriggan one) After that people can decide if they want to grind for other things. So give us more rewards, like minions, housing items, fire works and stuff like that but dont put them too cheap into this. (But also not too much) This would also at least explain why housing items are that expensive in the mog station..because they might have taken the people some time to get in an event instead of just putting a couple more minutes behind it and buying everything else already.

If we then had longer events people could still grind for that, we would have stuff to do and all those that dont care about it could still get their main price in a reasonable amount of time. But cutscene heavy events that last half an hour max are just not something that I find that fun. (But that just my opinion on this)

Or people will write their opinions about this on the forum (which is the place to do so) with the hope that maybe it would get improved so that everyone could have fun with that. (Making it completely stop might not be the best idea but other people already got some suggestions) I am quite sure that you recently wrote in another topic that you disliked something. Why write that if you just can go on and just ignore it?

I love the haunted house even if they reused it because its just fun. Going into this, trying to solve the problems, having a good laugh at being turned again and you could go in there for a bit because they had at least some items to buy. So if they would introduce more of such houses with different themes and maybe different mini games I would be fine if they use them in the different events. Just change some mini games for some time or introduce a new one or something and it should be fine. Give us some nice amount of items to farm for and this would be near perfect for me.
