    I got just one. WAIT for the new person PLEASE! If they didn't say anything whatever, but if they do PLEASE for the love of god understand that. Twice today I was locked out the last boss and it sucks. Really kills the mood and saps any happy thoughts I had in the entire dungeon once the cutscene is over to see that stupid blackest clear wall you can't pass.

    Speaking of bosses, unless you are the tank, do not pull the boss - especially if the tank is waiting for TP or CDs to regenerate, or if they are waiting on another player's CDs to restore. Doubly so if it was requested by a party member. Unless it's unreasonable like a fresh restore on Hallowed ground, Living Dead, or something similar. Tanks shouldn't be holding up boss fights in dungeons over that. If you pull the boss ahead of the tank, do not be surprised if the tank and healer run the hell away from the boss room and do not take any actions to help you.

    1: Say "Hi" upon joining a party, and "Goodbye" when leaving.
    2: STICK TO YOUR HEALER (unless a mechanic makes it difficult)

    In fights with targetted AoEs, stay away from BLMs, especially when Ley Lines is active.

    • As a tank, never pull for me. It causes the WoW flashbacks to kick in. I would rather you just ask me - especially if you're a healer - to pull more. Hell, I'd be cool with you calling me every name in the book, /slapping me, and having me kicked afterwards. Just don't pull for me. You do it, I drop at the end of the encounter. I have zero tolerance for that. I'd rather be a 30-minute deserter than a 10-minute figurehead.

    Slow and steady wins the race. I'd rather a run take forever with no wipes, no fuss, no muss, than people trying to speed through a dungeon and end up wiping - especially more than once - which basically negates the time you're trying to save (Bardam's Mettle first comes to mind) and becomes more frustrating.

    • I always set aside an hour when running dungeons. I've seen too many runs go sideways for one reason or another. On runs where I went in thinking it'd just be a quickie, it'd often become nowhere near that. So, thus the rule.

    Just clip it. As a dragoon, Heavy Thrust is the first hit of all my single-target combos. I might clip around 15 seconds of the buff, but I'm more comfortable doing that than risking it falling off since I'm easily distracted. Same with ninja. The moment I see ~40 seconds on my Huton buff I go for the Armor Crush combo, even if there's a better ability to use at the time (Trick Attack when I actually happen to be at a target's rear comes to mind). Basically, I'd rather clip a buff than have it fall off.

    • When given a choice, it's better to wait forever for a good group, than to be insta-queued into a bad one. I learned this back when I was tanking in WoW. They got insta-queues, but you were often insta-queued in a group that sucked. More (potential) groups = more sucky groups. If you, as a DPSer with long waits, thought the groups you were in were bad, you could only imagine what a tank/healer has to go through.

    • Considering the fact that I've no interest in raiding, end game = end of the game, at least as far as combat goes (I'll craftcraftcraft till the day I die though. that part of the game I definitely love!). Coming from playing WoW, and to a lesser extent, Runescape, for so many years, I've come to learn that The Journey > The Destination. I often feel like I'm just doing busy work until the next expansion hits. It's always more fun getting there than making it.

    Because that's how probability works. You're the statistically-1-in-15,625* person who got the 4% chance of failure three times in a row.

    * if I've done my maths right. 0.04 x 0.04 x 0.04 = 0.000064 = 1 / 15,625

    Wait... can Rescue pull people through the boss lockout barrier?

    No. You pull them in in advance, let them die if more mana-efficient, and then rez them when they return.

    Was more of a joke then anything, but thanks for doing the math on it. I'm not good with complex number problems like this, so I can't say if it was done right or not, sorry. ^^;

    On the flip side, while RNG can kick one in the dirt some times (I really did fail 3 times in a row with a 96% chance once), it can also give out big time as well. I've HQ'ed items with a 1% chance a number of times while bulk crafting, and once won a primal mount with a 56 roll cause the 5 others that rolled all rolled lower then me. RNG giveth, and RNG taketh, I guess. XD

    If everyone is within walking range of the gate and the countdown gets canceled without reason, I'm just going to pull.
