Pa4 controller issues since last maintenance 12/28/17

Ever since the last maintenance, 3 of my controllers are not working properly in ffxiv. It is only ffxiv that has the issue. The O button won’t work and the directional arrows won’t work unless you hold the direction down and don’t let up.

Other games work fine just not ffxiv, anyone else having this issue?

Good afternoon, and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in our response to this thread.

When exactly did this start occurring? What kind of controller is it? A standard PS4 controller or a third-party variant?

Have you tried playing the game on a different PS4 (if you have one available) to see if the problem persists?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Sorry for the late response. I have a ps4 pro and it is the standard ps4 controller from Sony. No I don’t have another ps4 to play it on. I am not sure what’s causing it but it is separating. I notice it more in the evening though due to my work schedule that’s when I normally play. On my days off it is separating and I will have to shut down for a few hours then it works fine for a few hours then comes back.

Thank you for the reply BoazJochin,

If you have a PS4 Pro, then I'm guessing you've only had that controller for a year at most. That would rule out traditional wear and tear. The PS4 is designed to be plug and play which makes troubleshooting a bit difficult, but there are a few things you may be able to test.

Do you have the same issue whether the controller is connected via a USB cable? Or does it act the same as it does wirelessly? In the PS4 'Accessibility' section of the system settings should have an option to customize the buttons on the controller. Try swapping some of them out (i.e. switching the X and O buttons) to see if you have the same issue. This might indicate if it is a software or hardware issue.

Finally, you may want to try reinstalling the game. I can't guarantee this will work, but that will fix any kind of potentially corrupted files that may be causing the issue.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
