XI was even worse then 14, you had people with claim bots and RMT camping stuff 24/7No, mobs were claimed in XI, meaning the first person/party to hit it were the only ones who could attack it, so competition for such things was expected and normal. Anyone actively hunting would know the respawn time. The idea for hunts in this game was also to be something of competition, but that was lost when people started believing that shouting out to people who aren't even hunting to come join and wait for the entire server to show up was the only way you should do it.
I'm just glad I now play on Cerberus. Hunt enthusiasts have really come together here to call out hunts when they spawn. Interested players are also taught how to spawn S rank monsters. In addition to that, people wait a reasonable amount of time between calling out and pulling a hunt.
In the unlikely event that a player pulls early, they are removed from the various hunt linkshells if they're a part of them.
Pretty much though in my experience most of it was in game or on fan sites. The people on the outside are always going to whine about the people on the inside essentially because they want the rewards without doing any of the work. Not sharing death times for hunts isn't disruptive behavior. People are just trying to claim it as such because they want to sit around crafting or doing something else in game and wait for someone else to tell them when every hunt spawns so they can teleport to the zone and kill it at their convenience. You have options to solve the problem yourself. If you are too lazy to do it then there is no one to blame but yourself.

It got much, much more. The big ones were 21-24 hour spawns, with linkshells holding onto them for up to 3 hours before killing, so their window will be the same day after day. And they actually dropped exclusive items unavailable elsewhere.
3 of the biggest HNM's in FFXI for years that had drops just about anyone in the game wanted were on respawn timers that were 3-7 days irl and on top of that they also had a rare version of themselves that had its own exclusive drop.
The biggest thing I'm seeing from a lot of the people whining is they don't appear understand a fundamental difference of rare spawn in an persistent world MMO that has a set period of time that must elapse before it can appear in the world again, and rare spawn in their offline games or instanced online content where its either just a single named monster that is always there or they can just force it to spawn when they want by reloading the game/instance.

The only disrupting thing about hunts is resetting them which is bannable. I smile when I see 'report for early pulling!' shouts, do people even understand what the hunt is?
People keep bringing up how things were in old games like FFXI and EQ. That's nice and all, but it's 2018. Game design has come a long way from archaic and exploitive mechanics. Just because something old was terrible doesn't mean the new has to be the same. Bringing up these old examples is irrelevant and does not justify the ability for players to exploit the hunt system.
People are also saying "learn when the hunt died yourself", which would constitute literally stalking these players as they go around the world 24/7 to see when they go to kill the hunts, which would be harassment.
Stop whining, people aren't oblige to let you know when a hunt is there or not. Like the dev said one time, hunts are first come first served.
Stop not reading posts before you respond. No one said anything about players needing to tell people when hunts spawn. However, keeping the spawn window information to yourself, while possible, makes it impossible for anyone else to participate. Its a side effect from the level discrepancy now that we are so much higher level than the hunts. This situation is not the intended design, the hunts have not been updated with level 70 characters in mind. You may not be fully grasping this since it's not happening on your server.

I am sorry that most of the people in this thread have absolutely no reading comprehension.
To those saying stop whining : No one is asking to be hand-held through hunts. No one is asking for relays to the entire server. No one is asking to leech off of hunts. They are asking for an in-game way to tell when a window is active so they do not have to use third-party programs like Ariyala and radars to know when to dump six hours into eating eggs in Central Than.
People cite the feeling of competition being the real reason they do not mark timers - but it is not a competition when your opponent is blind with no way to fight back besides sheer dumb luck.
