"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." -Lord Roosevelt of Washington

I know this sounds weird, but run Alliance Raid Roulette. If you get any of the Crystal Tower raids or Void Ark, people burn through it so fast it isn't funny. Try practicing there. I am not a great healer at all but I learned a good bit from it leveling WHM.

Do Palace of the Dead - a reliable source says it's the best way to level your jobs from 61-70!
...nah, I can't say it with a straight face either
You're good at the game? You're an elitist.
You're using a parser to better yourself? Elitist.
You're making suggestions on how someone can improve themselves? E l i t i s t.
You wipe a farm party constantly but you're having fun playing your way. Nah you're fine dude.
This community astounds me at times.

Why? If you fail, you can always quit mid-dungeon. It's not like you're unfamiliar with that kind of thing.
I leveled it up to 60 then changes came. Now after leveling up favorite classes I am ready for this and know how cruel others can be and do not like being kicked for not knowing a proper rotation and skills.Question, did you buy a job skip for the class? Or are you just worried to play it after awhile away? No shame if it's the former, but if it is I would recommend actually doing a lower level dungeon first to get the hang of the class. It plays very differently from the other healers and if you go into it with a typical healer mindset you're only going to make more grief for yourself. Though if it's the latter you'll mostly like what SB has to give you. Excogitation is a god send.
Scholar is one of my favourite classes and find it easier than the other healers. Putting succour on the group and adloqium on the tank really helps with damage and gives me the freedom to cast broil 2 and miasma 2 on monsters. Also the fairy has that “heal 60% more” spell which can be really useful.as long as you manage your aetherflow properly you don’t run out of mana. I like Indomitability for fast group healing and Lustrate for emergency tank heals. Just go for it, what’s the worst that could happen? Besides the stormblood dungeons are really fun.

Alright. Overall SCH was one of the classes that was changed the least as of/ this current patch cycle/. Most of the omissions were patched out, or balanced to be less punishing than they were before when SB dropped. It's really a different beast compared to the beginning to SB where it was a pure nightmare to level. About the only thing that you really need to know is that macros are what make this class shine and with a properly macro'd faerie you can take on pretty much everything.
I'm not on my main PC right now so I can't copy and paste my own list, but here's a thread where people provided macros for you to try: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Scholar_Macros
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...cholar_macros/
There's also a case to be made for mouse over macros and both of the Savage SCH's I'm friends with live by them. However I'd start small and see if you like macros in general to begin with before delving further. You don't /need/ them. However they do make tackling the sheer button bloat and faerie commanding a little easier, but don't feel bad if they aren't for you.
Other handy tips are:
-Pair Rouse and Whispering Dawn for a tremendous DoT.
-Use Adlo on the tank then Deployment tactics it to everyone nearby at the start of a boss room pull. DT has a short range, but it's handy for getting a crit shield out to those who might need it.
-Miasma 2 is your best friend, but be careful /never/ to spam it if you aren't sure your mana can handle it.
-Excogitation is like a giant shield that insta-heals when the target when their health dips below 50%. This skill is a godsend and the best part of your new kit. I like to keep it on the tank at all times if I can spare the aetherflow.
-Chain Stratagem increases the Crit Rate by 15% for 15 seconds on whatever enemy you place it on. It has a long cooldown but when it proc's, oh god is it fun to see.
-Aetherpact forces your faerie to put out a continuous heal on a single target, using up the fey union gauge which is built by using aetherflow actions. I'm personally not a fan of it because I've found macro'ing can near replicate it's affect, but it does have it's uses and can take some stress off your shoulders.
-Use Bane once you've set up all your damage dots on a single enemy so they can spread to nearby enemies and save yourself the hassle. Never use it if there's only one target.
-Never, ever keep your faerie on Sic. Make sure that each time you log back into the game she's on Obey and execute her actions yourself. Eos and Selene have terrible AI and it's even /worse/ when you let them do whatever they want.
-Remember you're a preventative healer, not a reactive one. SCH doesn't have the sheer healing power of either WHM or AST and we rely on anticipating then nullifying damage before it even happens. Best thing I can tell you is to learn the dungeons and fights intimately so that shielding becomes second nature.
Hope that helps!
