Updating the voices?

It would be nice to be able to preview all of a particular voice's samples for every emote and situation, particularly combat.

I feel like the people who picked that Miqo'te voice probably thought it sounded okay in the creator without realizing how it would sound in battle.

I just tried out Black Desert from the Steam sale. They let you preview voices in 3 or so variations of battle grunts. it's just a preview option on the character creator, its nothing new added to the game. I think they can add it eventually.

This game could use a more in depth menu in the voice section of the character creator by adding a variety of battle cries to the sampler as well. Many rpg's do this.

Saves me the trouble of looking up youtube videos showcasing combat voices.

Agreed. Female Highlander voices make me sad. Voice 2 is ok, voice 4 is ok, but both have...really weird moments. All of the rest sound like they are anything from mildly brutish to openly stupid. I mean, one of them straight sounds like Kermit the frog, but without the humor you'd think that would elicit. I'd be ALL for some more options, even if its just voices from other races, but they won't do that, because a lot of voice clips match that race's animations, but not others. Unfortunately, there was only two good female voice actresses (no idea about males really) and one did a couple Miqo voices, the other did a couple of elezen voices and one hyur voice. That's it. All the other ones were either someone's aging mum who did it for free, or a retired female bodybuilder smoking two packs a day, or some other obviously unfortunate choice. I think it's because they spent all of the budget on the big names for the story characters and such. I tell you what, I'd even be super happy if they just dipped into the well of brits they got for Heavensward, most of them are solid enough, just have some of those ladies do a few voices, add them to the pool, and call it a win. Get some variety in there, especially for highlanders, midlanders, and roes too. ^_^

Edit: I forgot, to be fair, Au Ra ladies have some decent variety in their voices. It could be better, but it is already better than most of the rest. It just escaped me at the time because some times I get tunnel vision and am an idiot as a result. Try 2, 6, or 10 if you want a decent lizard girl voice. It was a decent if small step towards more choices and options when they put them in in HW.

honestly I think we should be able to choose voices individually, like which laugh we want, which angry we want. rather than choose them as a set. since Ive had times where I really liked the laugh on one voice but hated the angry noise while I liked the angry voice of another set. >.>
