    Item Code for Orchestral Album is character-bound instead of account-bound

    Hi -- I received the Eorzean Symphony Blu-Ray music album today, and when trying to redeem the included item code, the MogStation prompted me to select a character to give the items to. (I have an NA-region account.) In the past, item codes included with merchandise have always been distributed account-wide, and not character-bound. I believe this may be due to an incorrect configuration of the item code.

    Please let me know if you need any further information or if there's a better avenue for sending this report. Thanks!

    While this is not a technical issue, we may still be able to assist. The Eorzean Symphony does come with an item code, however, it can only be applied to one character.

    Please be aware that there is no standard for the kinds of codes that are given out on the Online Store. Past codes may have been account-wide codes, but that does not mean every one of them will.

    To the best of my knowledge, every single piece of previous merchandise has come with a code that worked account wide:

    Soundtracks:
    • Before Meteor
    • A Realm Reborn

    Artbooks:
    • Another Dawn
    • The Art of Ishgard - Stone and Steel
    • The Art of Ishgard - The Scars of War
    Toys:
    • Delivery Moogle
    • Emerald Carbuncle
    • Topaz Carbuncle
    Misc:
    • Fan Fest 2014 items
    • Fan Fest 2016 items
    • Eorzea Encyclopedia
    • Regional promotions (i.e. butler/housemaid attire, cloud mount, etc.)

    There's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now. All of the above I've personally purchased and seen that they work account wide and I was just as surprised that this item required me to select a specific character.

    I do appreciate what you're saying in that the how previous codes have worked doesn't mean all future codes will also be account wide, but based on Square Enix's previous merchandise, that's a complete change on how things have worked. It is of course up to you how you sell your merchandise, but I don't believe it's unreasonable for customers to assume that the code would be account wide especially as the store pages don't say they are for a single character only and I feel that's misleading.

    At the very least I believe the store pages need to be updated to say whether the codes are single/account wise as it may affect someone buying the item if they want it on multiple characters and might not buy it otherwise.

    But may I please enquire why this one wasn't account wide? As we can have up to 40 characters per account is Square Enix expecting someone to buy this item up to 40 times to get it on each of their characters?

    Currently I have the "Stormblood Art of the Revolution Western Memories Art Book" on preorder, can you please confirm if the Yotsuyu minion code that comes with that will be for a single character or will be account wide again?
