Question: if they had ALSO made it so that you could get it after 3000 S Ranks, would the fact that it is now purchaseable via the Mogstation make it P2W? xD

Not P2W, since the mount is not giving the player any advantage, but it would be pay to progress (goal to obtain the mount), now if instead of the mount it was a item for crafting. An example, the item is sold via Mog Station or via long ingame grind and this item is needed to craft epic weapon, then it would be P2W.

Pay to progress is on itself is not that bad, but only if the option to get the item ingame is not locked behind a horrible grindfest. The thing is companies tend to make the grind so bad, that players are incentivized (forced) to take the easy way and pay with their wallet.

No because it's cosmetic and has no stats on it.

I bought it because they use mogstation things to do things like the did with giving us new servers and things like that but yes these things should just be in quests in the game..

Except (and please correct me if I'm wrong, folks) a sizable chunk of profit SE makes from this game doesn't even go back into FFXIV; they reallocate it to other games and such.

Oh well. Let the people who don't mind buying them enjoy their mount, clothes, and emotes.
We just got a really cute free mount. I'm okay thanking them with an additional purchase.
