    Sound Glitch and system lock

    Hello All,

New to the game, so maybe this has been addressed and I just cant find the answer.

Picked up the game the other day, but every time I play, after a fairly short time, my sound goes completely haywire and my whole system locks up, forcing me to hard reset.

I've tried searching for answers, but everything I've come across is really old posts that all say update drivers. My video card driver is current, I updated my mobo drivers and bios as well. Nothing seems to be helping this issue. If someone has a fix, that'd be great because the vague maybe solutions I've been finding arent helping.

Im not home atm so cant post all my stuff...Heres what I know, can gather more later if needed
    Win 10 64-bit
    Nvidia 970 card
    z270 Pro Gaming/Aura mobo
8 GB of ram (I know its low, Im waiting on my new sticks lol)

Any help would be appreciated...I'd love to get deeper into this game

    Thanks!

Edit: Been trying to run DX11 version. I've seen things about DX9 but not sure how to switch to it or if its still a thing

It sounds like an overclocking or overheating issue to me.

Hello PipBoy, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Also make sure your Graphics card drivers are updated to the latest version (alternatively, if you feel the graphics driver update caused the issue, you can try to install an older, more stable version). Also make sure that any program that provides and overlay is also disabled. For example, if you have an Nvidia card, the drivers may suggest installing Geforce Experience. As this may interfere with the game, we suggest leaving this disabled or uninstalled. Also, try disabling or closing all background applications/programs. You can also try switching DirectX 11 off.

Has anything on your PC updated recently?

Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV!

Well, I think I resolved the issue...or at least improved the situation.

Xeons comment about overheating made me start looking in that direction, which lead to me finding that my system was trying to push the sound through the GPU as well, so switched that off, disabled and killed literally every non essential service and then lowered my graphic settings.

I have not put it through any long term stress tests, but my 60-90 minute game sessions yesterday were all much more stable.

Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction! Love the game so far!
