Tanking is WAY less stressful for me than healing.

I was pretty much always stuck in the tank role since 2.0 and finally got out of it in SB (though may have to go back next raid tier sadly).

I was already annoyed with tanking, but SB kind of tipped me over the edge for several reasons. One of the foremost was the completely killing of accessories for tanks after they changed our damage from a mix of VIT/STR back to just STR. It was a 2 steps back moment after finally addressing an issue tanks had. Followed by one of the most nonsensical reasonings for doing it making me lose any faith this team understands what they are doing with tanks.

Tenacity was also pretty underwhelming considering it was supposed to be the fix to the very long issue of parry.

Beyond the SB mishaps, the core gameplay of tanks is bad. The focus on DPS is annoying. If I wanted to DPS I would just DPS (and presently am). Doing EX and savage as a tank is also annoying as you usually have to deal with all the mechanics everyone else does, plus tank specific mechanics too. And wiping over and over really gets draining in a fight. I also think I would go insane if I had to progress through even a single boss again that forces you to tank swap. Its a boring and highly overused mechanic they jam in just to justify 2 tanks.

The main point though is all together tanking has too many issues to be fun and the devs have inspired no confidence in me that they know how to develop tanks pushes me away from tanking.

This right here. I leveled war myself in dungeons and was stressed out the first couple attempts. Luckily, everyone I got in the DF was patient with me and my small pulls. I did nothing but doubt what I was doing, even with my husband and my friend telling me I was actually doing really well. I'll just stick to healing...

I don’t really like the playstyle so “too boring” I guess. Raldo summed up my feelings perfectly.

I would say too stressful, but I'm a healer main. So perhaps it's just a different kind of stress? I've also never tanked in 8-man, so there is a lack of confidence that probably applies as well.

Healing is definitely a different stress to tanking. You’re reacting to situations and supporting the group, but don’t have to set the pace, not get lost, watch out for enemies that you missed and are now attacking your team members... (that bit would be much easier if they automatically appeared in your enemy list when they attacked anyone in the party!)

I got Paladin to Lv50 with the intent of “being helpful and using it for roulettes” but now I’m a bit scared to use it because I’m not experienced with the high-level dungeons yet.

It’s also inherently stressful because I worry that I’m going too slow, or “not doing it right”. I don’t like being the group leader. I feel much more comfortable just following the party through the dungeon instead of having to find my way (and stop to check the map) when people are waiting for me.

I dont know. Healing is more stressful IMO. Because if the tank dies then the blame instantly goes to the healer(s). Especially in 24 man content.

I'm too fast so my 'squishy' tank is too much for the healer, or I'm too slow and don't take any damage, making others want me to go bigger.

I get SO many mixed messages as a tank I actually don't know if I'm a good or bad tank. When I DO bother, I'll usually be told how much of a squishy sponge I am, or how I'm super duper tanky (Got both in Skalla's massive pull before second boss, did nothing different between them.) I also tend to get faster runs if I heal or dps it.

This. Once I got over tank-xiety I had, the real turn off was how BAD other players are. If I don't play healer, all I get are heal-only healers who lose their mind when you ask them nicely to DPS (I just stop using CDs if they do that). If I don't play DPS, all I get are RDMs who hardcast Veraero and melee who say AoE is too hard.
And then people wonder why there is no tanks in DF.
