Didn't the elevators in the Bastok Metalworks move in real time? Honestly, I would rather have that.Actually, it's mostly to mask other players using the elevator- so that nobody else has to wait for the elevator to go up/down before they can use it. Technically the polys for the upper/lower level need to start being drawn but this only takes an instant. If you go to the airship landing, the loading doesn't take place until after the elevator animation finishes.
I like the chocobo and airship cutscenes, but there's really nothing epic about watching my character walk onto an elevator.

It is pointless complaining, because it doesn't improve the game at all taking it out or leaving it in. Like someone said, this sounds more liking finding a reason to complain, then actually bringing a valid complaint to the table.
I wouldn't waste my time on something if I didn't think it was important.
!: CS can crash the game. (skipping these CS's seems to make it happen.)
2: Being forced to skip a CS or watch it every time I try to go somewhere is a waste of time not to mention the airship has 2 CS's.
3: Its a simple enough thing to do and wouldn't take much more time then it takes to make one of these CS's. (Your complain about them spending their time on better things goes out here.)
4: Offering a toggle would keep everyone happy.
I am aware number 1 won't always be a problem but I believe fixing the bad coding that is causing the crash will take longer to fix then adding a bypass. Not to mention they are already planning to redo the entire game in 2.0 so it would be pointless to redo the coding for these CS's. In the end this is a temp band aid until 2.0 comes out. If you intend to keep saying its pointless then please leave and don't come back here.

As a person who's game crashes all the time from overheating (until I changed cards), I never crashed from CS's. While I don't say it doesn't exist, if you believe the issue is big enough to remove the CS's, you are dead wrong.

How is this so inconvenient to your time? The question is, why? Some people enjoy the CS's and you have the option to skip it. Why remove what you don't have to deal with. Going through programming on 1.0 just to make a function to toggle on/off a CS doesn't seem like it is worth it since people are too lazy to hit the cancel button than skip. It sounds like laziness now.4: Offering a toggle would keep everyone happy.
With optimization supposedly much better in 2.0 and a whole new engine, who knows what will happen when we transit from one thing to another, but why can't you deal with it in 1.0 for now and just see how it is done in 2.0? My question is, why should the Dev's put work into something so insignificant that is eventually going to be thrown away to satisfy knit pickers? If your problem is crashing, then simply bring up the fact it is crashing in the tech help section. Bring up the issue with the bug. If you and others are having this issue, then Dev's would eventually see it and possibly fix the issue.

In the Metalworks, there were two elevators, one on each floor at any given time, so you generally didn't hvae to wait much. But with one elevator, that goes to multiple different destinations, the cutscene method is necessary to eliminate waiting for someone else to finish using it.
I would rather that the lift just took you to the black screen that your going to get anyways regardless if you watch or not then have to deal with the CS. I know others do not feel as I do so that is why I suggested a toggle for this. Yea when you skip and it crashes the game thats pretty annoying, it can happens with all cutscenes though.
I dont' have a problem with the Chocobo cutscene as it would take me much longer to run out of town and use my whistle, what I dont' like is that I have to talk to the chocobo NPC instead of just using my whistle in town.
