    Need help/advice please!

    Hi!

I'm very close to ending the SB msq and i've got 1900 creations stocked up (did it the wrong way).

Problem: I've levelled a SAM, PLD, AST to 70. I know i don't want to main AST cause healing higher tier content is too much stress, but i'm still hesitating between SAM and PLD and I need to make up my mind to not waste my creations on the wrong items/class.

There it is: do you reckon it's better to main a DPS or a TANK? I know for lower tier content there's an overall higher demand for tanks, so faster DF/roulette queues, faster PF groups, but how about when I will have unlocked all the high tier content? Is there any difference between the demand for tanks or dps? (an example where dps have already an advantage are Alliance Raids and when I did A12S tank spots often filled pretty quickly.)

    Follow-up:

So: tank or dps, which job is better? Not talking about taste (pls don't answer me that), i am talking about utility/demand/comfort with queues and parties. Oh and don't forget my DPS is a SAM with zero utility ;3

    Thank you! *-*

Honestly it sounds like you just want us to say tank. So it should be a no brainer. just go tank.

Honestly, you should main the job you enjoy most, regardless of role, queue times, utility, etc.. You aren't going to perform nearly as well if you're on a job you love less (I'm guessing you're interested in Savage by your mention of higher-tier content?), so you should play the job you love most. Because you will perform much better, queue times be damned.

In terms of utility for raid groups, since you're asking, serious ones will want a job with utility. SAM doesn't offer that, so they would want you on PLD. Casual/midcore groups won't care, so long as you have a decent performance on your role, show up to raid, are a team player, etc..

That being said, nothing is stopping you from having a main and secondary. I main BRD, and secondary Noct AST, SCH, and RDM.

Well like I said it's not really a matter of what i love most, i don't have a real preference as of right now, so i'm hesitating: i believe it'd be easier to be a dps, but being a tank gives you some nice benefits

Now, yes i'm interested in raids (savage) so if you're telling me some groups won't want my SAM because of its lack of utility, then i'll probably go with my PLD now because i don't have any other dps class and the plan was to spend my creations now.

About secondary jobs: yeah sure i'll get more than one class, preferably different roles as well like i did now (sam, ast, pld) but right now i need to decide for a main so i know what i330 i'm going to buy.

    anyway thanks for your reply

    The best answer in order:

    1. Use fantasia
    2. Switch to ROE
    3. Level WARRIOR to 70

If you go Samurai, you will be competing a lot for spots in the party finder. More often than not, you'll see a party and feel like joining it, only to see they already have a melee DPS. And if you notice, tanks are often what is left unfilled.

So if you really like to play as a Paladin, then go with that. You'll spend less time looking for parties. Not to mention instant Duty Roulette queues. It's just so much better.

Play a tank. With the NA mentality nobody will want a SAM even though it really doesn't matter unless you're going for those top 1% groups.

Uh this is kind of a silly request, don’t you think? Choose the one you like to play most. Otherwise - play MCH.

Based on your criteria, I'd say go tank. Tanks are always in demand at all levels and generally tank mechanics are easier than dps mechanics. The downside is that when you screw up tanking, everyone knows.
