    Fishing Question

    Hey guys,

I hate fishing "props to those of you who like/love it and excel at it!", but I am trying to endure it by catching 1000 fish for the PSN trophy. I have been just grinding the fisher out and often seriously start falling asleep when I am fishing. Anyways, is there anyway you can check just how many fish you've caught? Something akin to checking your game time with /time. Is there such a command in game? Or will I just forever grind until I hit the 1000 mark? I know there are the "catch 30 fish here, catch 300 fish there", but I wanted a more on point count. Thanks in advanced!

FFXIV fishing is for Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime, Youtube, etc. I seriously feel your pain about wanting to fall asleep.

Haha yeah, its hard to say the least. I just gave up for now...you know why? I hit the 1000 mark, and nothing came up, no trophy. I thought to myself well...this is weird, maybe it needs to sync up to something first. 30 minutes pass by, nope. I think to myself well...maybe mooched fish don't count or some crap, so I go and fish another 50 times...Still nothing...quick internet search leads me to learn that catching fish in both mordonna and in coreathans don't count towards the mark...how the heck?!?! WTF!!!! GAHHHHH!!!!! seriously crushing as I had caught almost all the fish from those two areas from about level 30 and up! I will do it, but not anytime soon. There are just no amount of words as to why this is a thing...-_- still salty about it till this day...I actually hit the 1000'th mark that same day I replied on 12/23.

Awwwww man.... Honestly how I approach fishing is like this. Go to fishing log... pick zone... pick a spot and go for log completion. Don't think about the 1000 fish and just go for one big fish at a time. There are some big fish that are not weather dependent and you can just go cast for. For me fishing is actually a good investment as I made a pile off of Pipira Pira in HW.

I honestly have a TON of big fish still to catch from ARR. But somedays you want to catch up on XYZ anime (mine is One Piece) and I fidget so I fish while watching it. Sometimes you need that mindless activity.

Not if you are a serious endgame fisher.

But for casual fishing oh yeah.

I would call me a semi-casual. I pursue big fish at a very slow pace. I get what you're saying but I still pay attention and check skywatcher, plus have prompts on so I can hear the sound effect when I catch an HQ. Also my controller has the vibration function turned on so I can always tell when I have something on. I think I binge watched One Piece while going for the Olgoi in Southern Thanalan during 2.5. Once I get my crafters up I see me returning to big fish farming.

I don't find a whole lot of time to multitask while fishing. If I am unfamiliar with how the fish I am after bites and tugs, then I really need to pay attention. However, if I know how long the cast is, type of tug, etc. then I have more time to do other things like view videos, research mats or other fish etc. I never take my hand off of the controller though. Once a fish bites, you don't have a whole lot of time to reel it in before it gets away, and I would hate to lose a rare catch to a brainfart.

Fishing (or gathering in general, but fishing especially because of staying in one place) is when I'm really glad I have 3 monitors AND a minibike under my desk. Get some exercise, watch some videos, very relaxing.
