I just recently switched from a female to a male. I knew the Calamity Salvager has a Garo Gear buyback option, but I didn't know the restrictions were so bogus. Instead of switching the gear female --> male or male --> female, like they do with other gear, you need to have the title in order to buy the gear again with Gil. Problem is I have my Sam wearing the Mnk gear, my Mnk is 50, I have the gear, but because my Mnk is not 60 I cannot get the title. So now the gear my Sam can nothing to wear because I cannot buy back the gear.

This is mostly upsetting because they already had a system in place to swap gear between male and females and then they just ignored that system for this gear.

Well, just realized the flaw in that plan. Been running my Mnk in PotD on and off all day, and realized that even when I hit 60 I'll still have to rebuy the entire set with WolfMarks since you need to equip the set to get the title, and you need the title to buy the other genders gear for gil cheap and the set I have is for females only. By chance can you find this warning you speak of, I don't remember seeing anything like that.

This just seems like poor planning, both on SE's side and my own.

sounds more like your a fringe case than anything else.
You got the set on a different class than your using it on and changed genders and never got the title that the event told you rebuying them is linked to

18k wolf marks isn't exactly all that much work to get, just go do it and move on

I experienced the same thing as you OP. It sucks, but I see no change comming. Just do what I did, do PvP and you should be able to get it pretty fast. Getting 18-19K is not that bad with how fast Queues for PvP.

I'd consider it poor planning myself.

It came out in 3.5, so Stormblood was right next door and not planning ahead for RDM and SAM seems rather shortsighted. Neither job can get the buy-back option, because neither has an achievement tied to them and the respective shared gear achievement requires the respective weapon of the other job, so you'd have to grind monk from 0 to 60 to get the buy-back option if you never cared for monk but do care for SAM - that isn't exactly a fringe case either. The alternative is to constantly carry around a set you can't get back nor store in the armoire, 2 if you are unsure whether you'll stick to your gender. I find that needlessly user unfriendly - it's bad enough you can neither stow away nor re-buy cash shop items already, when that could also be solved with achievements like the Garo ones.

The event also doesn't tell you that re-buying them is linked to the title AFAIK. In fact, I don't think I have "ever" been notified when I qualify for buyback via the Salvager or Recompense Officer for any item in any quest or achievement and I don't think the achievements or quests contain a little info text on that either. Feel free to prove me wrong here if you got screenshots of the opposite.

For the OP, the short-term solution is to just grind the items again, but overall, recompense in general could and should be handled a lot better.
