A "fatal error" of 1.0 was that everything was composed of way too many polygons. 2.0 changed that by using textures instead of polygons on items and scenery.
Hair cannot be made simply with textures because it has to fall and move certain ways. They've optimized it but as we can see ingame, there's still a limit to it as longer hair (past the shoulders) tend to stick out on certain equipment. Longer hair would need more polygons for it to move and fall differently otherwise it will go straight through fluffy skirts and dresses. It's expensive not only for the developer but also the player because more polygons = larger strain on graphics generation.
TBH! I was actually going to reply back to this thread on this topic Neuflune. I myself, along with many others who probably don't know or fully understand what all goes into designing a game, implementing new textures and features, the price of programming etc. etc. HOWEVER, I do know for a fact that if they were to implement more customization options that were just slightly more advance in body/hair/tattoos and more, I would be extremely greatful to pay extra for this service, even as a premium customization option to help pay for what we demand. Does anyone else agree or disagree with this?? ^_^<3 I'm sure there's much more that goes into than just these obstacles, however I believe that this community is a great place, and we are all on either the same page if not in the same book of fantasy life! <3
