Why Does It Feel Like Poor Play Is Acceptable (I'm Venting.)

I most certainly hope the "poor play," as you call it, scares away the toxic, sweaty WoW parsers and helps preserve our (overall) welcoming community.

I wouldn't call a chat macro spamming community a real welcoming community but whatever. I bought into it when I was new as well.

To be fair and obvious, its the tech age. If you managed to run a PC, install the game, and create a profile, you can look up YT vids and or rotations online...search engines are your friend.

They can be your enemy as well.

Be very aware that you may have to dig much deeper or wider to find anything useful, since many of the sites that find their way into search engines haven't been updated since Heavensward.

This site: https://saltedxiv.com/guides/brd at least has been updated since the turn of the year. Might be a good place to look if you're new. Almost no site (this one included) will help much with anything except an end-game rotation.

These wouldn't be issues if advice is taken, but so often, I'm either outright ignored when I try to help, or backlashed back for daring to try.

This issue is getting completely out of control. Today I spent 5-6 hours running PoTD floors 51-100 to level some jobs on my Primal alt. I probably came across 10 WHM or so. Not a single one of them made use of Assize, Afflatus, Tetragamation. For all of those runs except the last one I refrained myself from bringing it up or even asking if they'd like some advise because of how deeply the "U dOn'T pAy mY sUb" mentality has been ingrained in the community.

The last run we were on floors 81-90 and it was getting pretty late, so after the MCH in the party fails to establish communication with the WHM I spoke up.

This happened:



Both the WHM and his friend decide to log out. Not leave party. Log out, hoping that we would kick them in order to circumvent the queue penalty. I took screenshots and reported them both because at that point that is purposefully griefing.

Me and the MCH didn't kick them out though and just proceeded to 2 man the rest of the floors, so happy end.

Also thank you above person speaking about potd, you have re-enforced my desire to never ever ever not do this with only friends and family. I am so happy there is content that can be cleared with alternate group sizes because it is difficult for us to coordinate schedules.

Making it allllll the way to floor 131 (I think? The one where the last boss is the hydra again) on our first try was most fun. Unfortunately standing under the hydra or at the times inside of the hydra does not mean safe from "Fear within" apparently... Welp. Not when the ping is 160+ I suppose.
