Ultimate Coil: Golden Bahamut Disconnects

So me and about 4 other people that I've heard of from varying servers and data centers are experiencing what I would think to classify as a "bug". Basically the game 90k's and boots you to the lobby server during the transition between Nael/Twin adds and Golden Bahamut, right before phoenix raises the party and gives you the double damage buff. Disconnecting at this spot in the fight makes it so you do not receive the double damage buff when you reconnect, and also removes the stored LB3 from the prior phase, which is needed to meet the enrage check. Due to this content being very niche (less than 0.1% of the player base will even reach this phase,) this issue is not very well known, and it makes getting support for this very difficult as well since you have to get 15 minutes into the hardest content in the game to test if any previous "fixes" worked. I have put in a support ticket and followed all the advice: full reinstall of the game, windows 7 compatibility mode, ran as Dx9, VPN + wired connection (0 packet loss, consistent ping), and opened all relevant ports (as well as completely turned off my firewall.) Nothing fixed it, and only through brute force did my group beat the fight on a run where by chance I didn't Disconnect.

Out of 16 pulls to Golden Bahamut, I DC'd around 9-10 times at the same part, and nowhere else. Out of all the people mentioned previously, I think I am the only person with this bug who has cleared this fight, as others with this issue have been kicked from their group (in the last phase of the fight mind you) due to not having as patient a static as I. Hopefully the devs or someone else checks up on this transition phase and finds what causes choice people to be booted out of the game. After all I did to try and fix it, I highly doubt it's a graphics or network related issue on my part.

Hello Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I would like to provide you with some troubleshooting steps. Please try them all.


The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. Most of the time, it results from certain security/privacy changes on PSN web browser. Please make sure that "Cookies" and "JavaScript" are ENABLED on the PSN Browser. This can be done by going to the web browser on the PS4, press the options button, then go to settings. The options for Cookies and Javascript will most likely be checked, uncheck them and then recheck them.

The fault may also lie with the "Date & Time" settings on your PlayStation 4. We would advise to please follow the provided steps to adjust your console's clock to assure it is accurate and up-to-date:
Close the FINAL FANTASY XIV game/application.
Go to [SETTINGS] on your PS4.
Select [Date and Time], and "Set via Internet". (Please do not manually set the date and time.)
Once, the date and time settings have been updated, please restart your PlayStation 4 console.
Once your console has fully restarted, please start the FINAL FANTASY XIV game/application.
Please make sure all other internet-enabled devices (including smartphones, laptop/desktop PCs, tablets, etc.) have been disabled and/or turned OFF to minimize game interference.

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, then there is a communication error. (Not the same as a connection error.)
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:

*This can be done by visiting www.portforward.com, locate your specific Router/Modem Brand and Model Number from the 'List of Routers', and you will find a step-by-step guide on how to access your ports.

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your console directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the console for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XIV.

If you continue to receive these same errors when you are connected directly to the modem, then the problem lies with your ISP. We would recommend contacting them and advising them that one or more of the ports previously provided to you are being blocked or filtered, and that you do need access on these ports.

Have you tried running the game with no other programs running simultaneously? Try going to the startup tab on the task manager and disabling all of the programs. Then restart your PC. This should start the PC without any background applications. Then run the game without any other programs (Discord, Pingzapper, Geforce Experience, etc.). It's possible that one of these programs may be interfering with the game just enough to disconnect you only some of the time.

I've tried turning off all background applications for a few runs on golden and it didn't change the DC's. The only one I haven't tried turning off is discord, but that one is required for high-end raiding. I also do not play with the overlay on discord, so that isn't a problem. I'd like to note that I also DC when moving zones via teleport (during the black load screen with the zone name), or entering/leaving a duty sometimes. This phoenix DC bug might be related to disconnects when moving characters around the instance servers possibly? The theory I have is that because this is the first mechanic that actually kills you on purpose and doesn't reset instance, that when you do "die" in this phase, phoenix "revives" you by moving your instance server to the "golden bahamut" server. This instance move might be what is disconnecting people.

I have been having this issue as well. the 3 out of 5 Golden Bahamut pulls we've gottent today, i have DCed. I'm not sure how to fix it at all.
