If they had the server infrastructure to do any of this they would have by now. The problem is that they clearly can't afford to upgrade the capacity of each server or datacenter despite the move to California.

Ugh, I hate megaservers.

dumb question: Balmung is still locked form transfers right ? As in no one can transfer in?

The only reason that could be behind that is an outdated idea that one server's population is better or worse than another and they do not wish to mix them. Having played dozens of servers across dozens of MMOs, I can't attest that is a false assumption. People are the same on one server as another. The position of a server in a list or its name, or in many cases its type, doesn't affect the sort of player that decides to play there.
History has kinda proved that desegregation among homogeneous populations is a good thing.
So I'm mostly in this thread to express my disbelief about people saying RPers are the "minority." I mean they're not over 50% of the population(what demographic is) but they're by no means a small group.
I run into them all the time, sometimes even in old leveling zones. They're by no means some small niche group that you'd have to hunt for to even realize they exist.

Try playing on another server. Balmung was selected by the early RP community to be the unofficial RP server. On my server (which I believe is the 2nd most populated) I can county maybe 2 RPers I've seen in 3 years. The RP playstyle is definitely in the minority in every MMORPG. I used to RP myself in these games, only stopped about 6 years ago. I can pick out a RPer pretty easily.
