I know of no MMO forum which doesn't ban "name and shame" posts, for very good reasons. Yes, I know what you're saying about it but there's a whole other side of griefing that happens when 'name and shame' isn't enforced.

Players like those you're complaining about get known about quickly enough, via shell chat and other places. If the player breaks the ToS then it's reasonable to expect SE to deal with them, so report, /ignore and move on is, IMO, if not the 'best', then the 'least worst' option.

Its good to know those toothless GMs banned the player in question. We now have one more reason why such forum posts are unnecesary. Im not trying to troll you DerekLamorte, just making a point in case that this kind of a problem can be solved in game without poluting the forums.

Disagree. Player infamy should stay to their specific servers population. They shouldn't be hung out to dry on public official forums. Don't worry, the in game community will spread word eventually if that person continues with unfavorable personalities and slanderous behaviour.

If you have find a player that is problematic, it's best to do exactly what you did, and any gm will tell you to do the same: Blist, report. They'll look into it.

Being spammed and attacked in-game is not the only thing that we should be able to demand recourse for.

I can see how SE would see this as counter-intuitive towards creating a large subscription base, and impact sales. On the same token, I can see how the lack of moderation of these forums and involvement of GMs in-game have filled peoples heads with the idea that they can say and do whatever they please.

Online experiences may differ from the ESRB rating indeed.

A player being told to kill themselves, or called racial slurs, being discriminated against and attacked because of heritage or homeland, or anything affiliated with this is considered criminal in many, many places. The internet is no exception. Why here?

Preventing flame wars is fine. Edit posts, warn/ban users, or lock topics. Delete them? Why?

I see this as one major reason not to invest my time or money in a product, and it's hardly a heavy workload.

I posted the aforementioned thread at approx. 2 A.M. EST and it got so many replies it was on the Hot Topics section. The general consensus was that people agree about this individual, and have had similar experiences. Why should 20 people have to dislike and or /blacklist a member of our community just to escape a trouble makers antics, when dealing with this problem should be SE's job. Yes, I reported it. Yes, I /blisted him. Yes, I posted evidence of it. Now it's gone.

    Like this if you agree.
No because this leads to witch hunts, and I have seen a few of those in FFXI go pretty badly.....
