Why is this not already in the game?
This is the worst offender for inventory space issues! I'm levelling my gatherers, my crafters and my 3 last jobs not 70 rn (a personal challenge to have all dow/dom 70 before 4.2) and i have a lot of inv issues with those rings between the pairs i keep for all my jobs at 70, the ones i need to keep because crafters are not all in the same lvl range and all those lvling ring i keep to not have to regrab them when i'm at the lvl and I can put in retainers because they're full of mats, can we at least get more space for rings that take more space than every other piece of gear?

Biggest reason I try to keep groups of jobs similarly leveled, just to keep them similarly geared (as suitable).

Yes please! Having the same amount of storage for twice the number of items is a pain when levelling all classes if they are all different levels (and thus have no gear overlap). An alternative would be to consolidate rings into a single gear slot the same way earrings, bracelets, and dual-wielding have been, but that could cause issues with itemisation.
