You are not crazy. Honestly, don't overthink it too much. Try not to do a regen before pull, but if you do, it's really not bad. If people are mad about you for this, oh my, they are going to be mad at a LOT of things going through life than this.

Pro Tip: cast Largesse before you regen/medica 2.
