If you have one of the total overlay skins such as Moogles, eatery, supplier, etc., it reskins most of the outside. It will show you what you can and cannot change without redoing the whole skin. The merchant skin does the whole outside but you can still dye/paint it. Otherwise, you will either have to click and drag out the merchant skin if you want to start over without a special skin.
