DX11 Color issue when alt tabbing

    Hello.
The issue started a couple days ago, whenever i alt tab, the colors flicker (go to orange then blue then back to normal) for half a second. Only FFXIV is affected, desktop and other programs remains unchanged.
It happen only when the game is on DX11, fullscreen or borderless, no others game are affected by this issue.
This is what i've tried so far

-Config to min then standard then max
    -Reset config
    -Redownloading the game
    -Check DXDriver
    -Reinstall GPU driver

my config if it can help:
    •CPU: i5-4670k
    •GPU: AMD Radeon 7950 HD 3Gb sapphire
    •Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43
    •OS: Windows 10

Still though, you're on an AMD graphics card and they have had memory leaking issues that has caused this behavior and worse since the start of FFXIV ARR several years ago. If this is the minimum of problems that you're having, then you are the lucky one. I tossed an AMD R9 290x 4GB card because of these issues, including the one that you describe above. An nVidia switch fixed all this for me, and it was the only way too.

Hi Ya! Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV!

I am really sorry you are experiencing this problem. I would suggest lowering the graphics settings in-game, as the intense graphics in dungeons can cause the issues. We also suggest that the graphics card are using the latest drivers for the card. Should you be using Direct X 11 and experiencing the issue, we would suggest reverting back to Direct X 9 to see if the issue still persists.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Please let us know if your issue gets resolved and what resolved it, So we can further assist other players.

I've had all those issues off and on since 2011 and never found not even the first fix to this date, aside from using directx 9 and lowering graphic settings a little. I doubt you fare much better You guys might have just started noticing these issues, but rest assured that these issues have been going on for years. They are not consistent. Sometimes they seem to happen to me all the time and sometimes I can go days or even a week without anything happening. On top of the issues you've mentioned, I've gotten bad framerates after alt tabbing back into the game, and usually the only way to resolve this was to shut down and restart the game (and sometimes entire PC). I would get total hard freezes. A few times I've seen my character disappear all for except his clothes (yes it looked like an animated set of clothes floating on top of the air). Quite often when the game started to slow down, I also got alot of other characters, adds, friends, bosses, all would occasionally disappear.

Lowering graphics settings and using directx 9 instead helped these issues alot but if you played long enough in one sitting, you would see these issues creep up on you in DX9 too. It just took longer.

Ive owned a 7870XT, R9 290x, aswell as an AMD 480. All three of these cards all had every one of those issues. Directx 9 seemed to help them but even then it would eventually start acting up again. I would often get disappearing characters, mobs, bosses, ect too. The longer my game session was, the slower my FPS was. It would always eventually freeze up if I kept playing beyond. I decided to grab an nvidia 980 last year and for the first time in 5 years, I haven't had any of these issues.

I always throught it odd that SE listed the recommended GPU for this game is either a ti-550 or an amd 7970. A 7970 isn't even in the same league. It's a billion times faster, so with that said, why would SE list such a high end card as recommended spec back then whe the nvidia card was weak?

A old cheap nvidia GPU will run circles around a high end AMD gpu on this game, so with that said, I would encourage those who play this game and are looking for a new GPU, Use nvidia and stand well clear of AMD.
