    90k Disconnect on Golden Bahamut

Hi, I've been having this extremely annoying issue where I disconnect with a 90002 error upon the phase transition to Golden Bahamut in Ultimate Coil. This has happened on roughly 60% of my runs so far.
Just today, I have disconnected there twice, at 9:04PM and 9:33PM EST (December 13). There were many others before this, but I don't remember the exact times.
I also sometimes will disconnect upon resetting an instance (after a wipe), leaving an instance, or teleporting to a housing zone, but not as frequently.

    some specs:
    Windows 8.1
    Ethernet connection
    ISP is Spectrum
    Modem: ARRIS TG1672G
    GPU: GTX 770
    CPU: i5-4670
    8GB memory

I have tried the following things, yet still encounter this disconnect issue:
    Reinstalling ffxiv
Reinstalling ffxiv on a new SSD
Reinstalling my graphics driver - clean reinstall after using Display Driver Uninstaller
Playing on the lowest possible graphics settings
Playing without VPN (I normally have it on)
    Playing with DX9 (normally DX11)
    Resetting internet modem
Scanning for viruses - none found
Checking for memory issues - 0 errors (Windows memory diagnostic)
Checking for GPU memory issues - 0 errors (Video Memory stress Test)
    GPU/CPU health look good

I don't believe this to be a connection issue, as I have otherwise no lag or disconnections; the only time I disconnect is under these specific instances. I haven't had any noticeable graphics issues in this game or any other either. But, this has been an aggravating issue since I am slowing down my group's progression due to these disconnects 14 minutes into the fight.

Any ideas on what could be the issue or how to diagnose it?

something is not loading correctly. the game is encountering an error and disconnects you. as to what is not loading properly it could be either the golden bahamut model or something in the area. but since you say it isn't always disconnecting you means something works only some of the time.

Good Morning, and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I have to agree with the poster above. If you are disconnecting at the exact same part every time, it sounds more like a game crash. The 90002 error probably comes up because you are disconnected from the network during the crash, but doesn't necessarily suggest a connection problem. How often does this occur outside of this spot? Can you think of anything that may have changed or updated on your PC that coincides with the crashing/disconnection? Has any issues come up along side this, or has this been your only problem?

Any additional information you can provide will help us solve the issue. We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Yes, a loading error of some kind makes sense. As I said, the golden bahamut disconnect only happens around 60% of the time, but the other times I notice no issues.

Outside of this spot, I will disconnect when resetting an instance (after a group wipe, the instance reloads all models), or loading into a housing area. These also seem to be some sort of 'model loading' issue. If I had to estimate, I'd say these other types of loading disconnects happen less than 10% of the time. However, this was never a huge issue to me, since I never disconnected in the middle of a pull, it was always after a group wipe and reset. I guess ultimate coil is a unique fight since its nearly 20 minutes long, so there is a 'model loading' instance during the fight rather than having everything preloaded, and that is causing this mid-fight disconnect issue for me.

These have been happening to me for at least 6 months, and I can't really say whether or not there was any change in my PC that caused this. I haven't changed any hardware for the last 2 years, other than adding in the new SSD when I reinstalled.

    Thank you for the reply,

On second thought, this may be connection related. Can you give me the exact steps you take when you disconnect? Also, do you have any problems logging back in? Where are you when you get logged back in (right before the instance, your home point, etc.)? Also, is there any correlation, with the time you are playing and the disconnections? Are you playing during peak times, for instance?

This looks like a rather unique situation as most of our troubleshooting, you have already done before posting. Any additional information you can provide will also help.

When I disconnect, I get returned to the client's start screen, where I hit 'Start' and connect to the data center. Anyone in the same instance as me will see my character still logged in, with the red disconnect symbol above my head. On my first login attempt to the same character, I will always immediately get the 3102 error telling me "You are still logged into the game. Please allow a few moments for the logout process to complete... etc". On my second login attempt, I sometimes get the same error immediately if I login too quickly, or another 90002 error after a few seconds of loading, or if I waited long enough (like 15 seconds after the first login attempt) it will usually just let me log back into the game. For the golden bahamut disconnects, I am still in the exact same spot where I was when I disconnected. Depending on the timing on when my character actually disconnected from the game, I am either still dead, or alive after Phoenix raised me. For the times I disconnect when teleporting to a housing zone, when I reconnect, I am in the housing zone that I teleported to.

Most of these disconnects do happen during peak times (8-12 EST), but only because those are the times I usually play. I believe I have experienced disconnects at all times throughout the day however. Also of note, I did physically move (from Brooklyn to Manhattan) a few months ago, keeping the same ISP/modem, but have had the same issue in both locations. Though I won't be able to for a couple weeks, the next step I was going to try was playing this on another PC, but if its a connection issue like you said, that wouldn't work.

Would just like to point out this isn't just a single person having this issue.

I've seen it happen on a few streams as well

Thank you for the reply best_girl,

A 3102 error comes up when the server reads that you are logged in but you really aren't. This means you were disconnected on the client side, but the server has not caught up. You try to log back in and the server still recognizes you as being logged in already, thus the error. If you are still in the instance or are where you intended to teleport into, then we have a similar scenario. You are disconnected from the client side, not the server side. This implies some form of connection issue, but not one on the server side. It's hard to determine exactly where though. I can provide a few suggestions that will hopefully solve the issue.

First off, have you tried playing through this section on another PC (or PS4 if you have one)? This could determine if there is some issue with the PC you are using (a faulty port or cable for instance) or the internet connection.

Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference.

Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don't use Internet Explorer), please do not use Edge as that is a different internet platform. Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, then there is a communication error.
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

*You may learn how to do this by visiting http://www.portforward.com/
Find your specific router's brand and model number from the 'List of Routers' and you will be provided a step-by-step guide on how to access these port settings.
Otherwise, your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XIV.

If one of these solves your issue, please let us know which one so we can better assist others with the same problem.

Port forwarding does not help at all. It helped me way back in 1.0 but not after 4.0 came out. Get 90002 errors now any time during the day even when server is pretty much dead. Even bought another new modem and no change at all. All stuff you list already done 3 years ago. Also had once 2 clients up same time to see if they both would disconnect at same time but only one did and other never got a error and there on same internet and router.
