Though the devs have said that they had no plans to implement a new DoL class....I like this idea. We are adventurers after all. Recently, Skalla and the area right before Rofocale in Rabanastre made me feel like I was an adventurer once again. There's plenty of unused areas in the base game. Hell, they could revamp Diadem and turn it into the first archaeologist area and we could discover so many things.
the problem with new DoL / DoH classes is that they need materials / recipes to gather for lvl 1-70, but what are these new recipes / materials usefull for?
i can think of a Shepard, since we already have those monster drops as crafting materials and you could shift that into a new DoL class, but entirely new stuff?
and when you let them start out on a higher lvl with no low lvl materials / recipes these new classes are on a disadvantage against the other DoL / DoH classes. but still what should they gather and build? we have crafters who make gear and weapons for every class, crafters for buffood, potions, furniture...
and gathering new recipes is kind of a one time activity and prices will drop instantly to a point this new class has not really a purpose.
New gatherer of land class: construction worker. Skills — Wrecking Ball: demolishes any House. Any demolished house can be claimed yours shortly after.
Get to it, Square!
As long as it'S not implemented like in WoW, I'm open to the idea.
Downside, though, is that if a DoW catches you trying to demo a house (any, not just yours), they can engage you in combat and cause permadeath, to keep it balanced.
I think you could dig up housing items, rare minions, rare gems and maybe some of the same crafting stuff that pops up in treasure chests. Possibly have rare collectable nodes. You could also have a museum where you kind of Indiana Jones stuff for them in return for Gil or either existing currency. Like you though I don't see it as a peer to the current DoL jobs. I see it more as a different form of treasure hunting.
I say a new class: Lady of the night :V easy money
I'd really rather this not be a profession of it's own.
Consider the basics of what it means to be a profession, after all. It means that for you to perform Y, you must first be around or above rank X.
So let's say you enter Skalla and really want to eat up some more lore about the place. Too bad, you're 2 levels short; time to go back and read the texts you already read in Castrum Abania another hundred times.
Lore, the quintessential open and optional content, does not belong in a grind system.
