Hello, I've been having an issue when trying to play the game with a controller plugged in on my PC. An error window pops up whenever I try to start the game (by pressing Play on the launcher) while the controller is plugged in or whenever I plug in my controller while the game is already running. The message reads:
An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.
EZFRD64.DLL+3654
EZFRD64.DLL+1B2A
WINMM.DLL+2886
KERNEL32.DLL+11FE4
ntdll.dll+6EF91
The header of the message changes depending on what triggered the error. If I start the game with the controller plugged in, the header will be in Japanese (Image A). If I plug in the controller while the game is running, the header will be in English (Image B).

The game still runs normally (apparently) even after the message pops up. However, the window will stay on top of everything and the game closes if I either press OK on the window or close it.
I am using Windows 10 64-bit and Final Fantasy XIV with Heavensward and Stormblood expansions and support for Direct-X 11 is active. The controller I'm using is a Joystick Dual Shock For Pc Multilaser - JS030 (I understand it is not the most extraordinary of products, but I still find it weird that the game apparently won't let me use it).
I only bought the controller recently so I do not know if it is a recent occurrence or if this type of error has always been occurring (today was the first day I had the controller plugged in when starting the game).
For what I have noticed so far, no other games are affected by the controller. I would like to understand if the error is game-related or not and if there is anything I could do to solve it without having to stop using my controller.
Please, inform me if there is any more information I can provide and, if possible, how I can access it.
Thank you for your patience.![]()
