I don't think making players reduce the number of owned house to 1 personal and 1 FC is punishment. Just because the system isn't working as intended doesn't mean we leave it as is and not try to improve it because some feel like its punishment. You know who's really being punished? The people that can't get a house. And Yes its partly due to the SE housing system but a big cause of it is the players. Selfish players who have to many houses and then those who are willing to part with one for 300mil. If those people with 10 houses quit the game because SE puts a rule in place to at least make it a little more fair to everyone I say good reddens. More houses for the people who deserve it.

Punishment is a bad term to use, but that's essentially what it is to take away something legitimately gained by one person to give it to another. But that aside, my problem with all the "fairness" and "deserving" arguments is that they would benefit the person making that argument more often than not.

ie - "It's not fair that I don't have a house because I deserve it more than someone who does. Here's my suggestion to change that..."

Legitimately is a loose term when it comes to housing due to the housing black market, online real money trading, and variety of data center variables. And sure why make an argument if you don't feel strongly about it. But i'm not speaking out for only myself. I'm speaking for the majority of the player base. I pay for this game and I love it. But, like all games there are flaws. And like good game companies they work to correct them. The outcry after Shirogane housing dropped on here was loud enough for SE to move forward with changes. And I'm advocating for a system that benefits majority of players. And sure the rule of only owning 1 personal 1 FC may benefit me. It may not. There's no guarantee I will get a house. Will my chances go up..sure. But i will be under the same rules as everyone else and will only be able to own 1 personal and 1 FC. The rule isn't unreasonable.

You can make the same argument to say that all personal and FC houses should be reclaimed. You're in the realm of "Some Miqo'te have bought gil, so I'm fine with taking away gil from all of them."

The rule may not be unreasonable, but it is still punitive to some for the benefit of others. Housing reclaim is the same (and I was a proponent before they announced that, but suggested it be based on subscription.)

I have multiple alts on the same server. I'm in 3 different FCs, 2 of which have houses. Since they said it will be 1 personal house and 1 FC (where you're a member, not the leader) house per server per account, does that mean that one of the two FCs I'm a part of shouldn't be able to keep their house. And should my third FC not be allowed to buy a house, since I have a gizillion alts in different FCs? That's not fair either. People put lots of time and effort into getting their personal and FC houses, even if it was for an alt. Is someone more deserving because they joined the game later and now want a house or they over slept and weren't up to buy one when more wards were added or whatever.

It's a question of some trying to take away something from someone so they can have it. I'd be very surprised to see SE actually take away housing from anyone. The new rules aren't unexpected and will apply to everyone going forward. At least that is my take on it and I seriously hope that alts are finally allowed the ability to share housing with their main because the current restrictions continue to be ridiculous.

I too have multiple alts and it's getting old given I pay an additional sub fee for them to have them treated like second class citizens.

You cannot purchase a FC house so long as you have one character on the server that is part of FC be it member or leader. Your third FC so long as you are not the leader should be able to buy a FC house. But its still not clear if people who own multiple FC homes or personal homes will be allowed to keep all of them.
