Names change throughout history, and while we may know the Jester Voidsent as Ferdiad, some one in some far off land could know him as Kefka, I imagine he's likely appeared a number of times throughout Hydaelyn's history.I personally think it is genius that the voiceover goes on while the new glamour system is shown
Regarding the primals I think they will be integrated only as much as the warring triads were. A small mention followed by their own separate storyline.
As for Ferdiad... why would he be renamed Kefka if it were the same being?
Yes, but it didn't happen with Halicarnassus. There was the mythological being used by Omega and there was the random voidsent that reminded people of Halicarnassus, who messed up Haukke Manor.
I'm actually rather glad that Kefka is showing up in such a manner. Aside from being a huge fan of FFVI, I always found it rather troubling that so many here were convinced that Regula van Hydrus was going to be the 'Kefka' of FFXIV. Thankfully that did not happen and he ended up being the General Leo of FFXIV instead.
I still don't know where the Regular=Kefka came from, either, or at least why it blew up. There was zero hint, build up, "Checkov's gun" of any sort to hint Regula would slip into Kefka style, playful, mass-scale sadism and megalomania. Like, at all.
"But Kefka was with the Warring Triad! Regula's story centered around the Warring Triad, too!" At this point, we should know the references and call backs are pretty flat in FF (like FFVII's Scorpion Mech just being a normal boss of Ala Mhigo), but W/E. We get the real thing, not a "call back."
On that note, since Omega's jumped dimensions and worlds, what says the simulation we fight ISN'T based on the actual Kefka? It was a curious point that all the bosses we were up against in Deltascape were villians that heroes defeated in their respective stories. So, is Kefka being here more to do with that fact HE won the first go of his story?
The idea that Regula was going to be FFXIV's version of Kefka came about simply due to Nael's appearance in FFXIV 1.0 as a rough expy of FFVII's Sephiroth (both go insane, destroyed a city, summoned a 'meteor' on their respective worlds, both even had a 'waking into the flames' scene), and that Sephiroth being the villain of FFVII also matched the numeral of Nael's Garlean Legion (the VIIth). Because Regula was Legatus of the VIth Legion, it led to wild fan theories that from now on each Legatus was going to emulate the main villain for the FF title that corresponded to their Legion number and thus, players expected Regula to go totally insane with the Waring Triad and become a Kefka-copy accordingly (Gaius being the Legatus of the XIVth Legion was therefore 'FFXIV's own representative'.).
Thankfully, with Regula that was not the case (and Zenos further consigned that theory to oblivion by hardly emulating any FFXII villain, he did not match Vayne at all and was too insane for Gabranth).

I'll admit I was curious if Nael was a coincidence or if there'd be other nods here and there. I didn't expect much, and I still wonder if the tiger Regula summoned was another coincidence or a little nod to the Tower. The idea that Regula was going to be FFXIV's version of Kefka came about simply due to Nael's appearance in FFXIV 1.0 as a rough expy of FFVII's Sephiroth<...> it led to wild fan theories that from now on each Legatus was going to emulate the main villain for the FF title that corresponded to their Legion number
Zenos...not so much in the vein of Vayne. Unless you count that he was the emperor's son with skewed ambitions, enhanced himself with the manifestation of magical energy, transformed into something vaguely draconian, and perhaps had his body possessed by a dark otherworldly force afterw ...Wait.
I'm going to abandon ship before I start seeing shapes in the clouds again /ac "Sprint" <me>

If anything, I expect Emperor Varis to be the 'Vayne' of FFXIV.
I'm still hoping that we get a 'Larsa', a 'Gabranth' and a 'Drace' at some point as well. I was kind of hoping that Lyse would resemble Ashe to some extent but the less said about Lyse...the better, I think.
I have a feeling Asahi might not check the Larsa box as closely as I want given he's not a natural Garlean, but I do have to wonder if they're trying to set that up.
Someone pointed out on reddit that one of the PCs in the trailer (starts at 1:52) seems to have a new hairstyle.
Mei transmogs incoming.
Shower Thought:
Just for gits 'n' shiggles, are we adding Asahi to the Elidibus Meatsuit suspect list, even if a potential red (and white) herring?
Midlander, middling height, yadda yadda?
I think I've room in my sachet for a few "Ascahi" jokes with my "Aulus mal Ascina" jokes.
Ascahian jokes, if you will.
