Thread: [Spoilers] The Patch 4.2 Discussion and Speculation Thread!

In the original description for Raen, like pre-Stormblood, we were told that they have isolated villages in the "eastern reaches", likely referring to that boot shaped peninsula arrangement to the east of the Steppe. Even if we don't end up going there I'd like to see at least like a quarter of the attention to detail the Xaela Tribes got paid towards these villages and their customs. I reckon we might have gotten a bit of one with the Obligatory 9 Tailed Fox Reference fate series in Yanxia but still not much there. I dunno I'm biased and would just like them to like give us an example of Raen culture that isn't as geographically far away from the original clan description as possible. I might be salty.

Checking: I hear him introduce himself as "Asahi sas Brutus". Am I hearing correctly?

(Largely because "Brutus" is kind of a weighted name.)

Ambassador and plenipotentiary, according to him. Which means he is fully authorized to act on behalf of Garlemald, and is trusted to use that authority for the good of Garlemald.

(Which may or may not mean very much, considering Zenos was also trusted with an entire Legion and two territories.)

But it does mean any actions he takes here would be as Garlemald's representative. No backsies of "overstepping his authority".

The whole alliance thing sits weirdly with me. (Hopefully not just because I'm biased against Varis and Elidibus, lol.)

Is the death of Zenos suddenly the climax of the war with Garlemald...? Certainly I don't expect to shatter Ilsabard, and I think the Empire is most likely to remain stable if it stays as it is and just experiences a change in leadership behavior, but ... Varis suddenly as a frenemy? Like this? Now? And after those stingers? Ehhh... narrows eyes

I can't help but hope this kid's name is Brutus for good reason, lol. Even Larsa urged us not to fear Vayne, at first.

Though it's interesting to note the use of the word plenipotentiary, as in "acts with legal authority as representative of an entire government", granted full powers inherent to only heads of state in matters such as signing treaties. Also the use of the title sas, suggesting he is commander of a foreign soil castrum at least (praefectus castorum; guaranteed to be his role if he's not just hiding this third eye well - and his name does sound Doman).
