Maybe it is tied to the Four Lords instead of the MSQ? That would certainly be different.
Probably Doma-specific. I am pretty sure the Ala Mhigan side is temporarily flush with money, after we liberated Theodoric's secret stash of gold and hair product.

I'm not sure why we still need to prove our abilities even in the Far East, though; the Confederacy should be well aware, as will people in the vicinity of Doma (ie Yanxia), and Kugane should have at least heard about us in some of the Job questlines, not to mention Kugane Castle.

I'm not even sure why we need to raise so much money in the first place (as opposed to leaving it to, say, Hien and the Domans). What have you been doing, Tataru?

EDIT: It is almost certainly tied into the Four Lords, I think.

    Hell's Lid dungeon:

To wit, you are to venture into the hidden depths of Hells' Lid, a volcanic island once home to a host of oni─at least, according to ancient legend...
    Jade Stoa (Byakko) trial:

Legend tells of a peerless samurai who, at the behest of a king, ventured forth to drive a host of oni into the sea. Yet for all his strength, Tenzen could not do this alone, and so he turned to the Four Lords─greatest of the auspices─for assistance.
If the former does not lead into the latter, I will be very surprised.

I think so too. One of the screenshots in the Four Lords preview show us surounded by small critters in a location that looks like a part of the Hell's Lid dungeon.

The only thing I can think of that would push the Scions to such financial dire straits would be Tataru gambling with mortgage-backed securities in Hingashi. They haven't made any major purchases of late...

Also have a hard time believing... well, just about anyone would need proof of our competency. Word of our victories in both Doma and Ala Mhigo has spread far and wide, to the point even the Xaela know that we defeated Zenos.

I suspect participating in the liberation campaigns of both Ala Mhigo and Doma is what took its toll on the Scion's coffers.

I wonder if it's supposed to be "So you claim to be INSERT NAME HERE? Prove it!"

I believe they referenced it more like WoL the Susano slayer, not the Liberator (which was an Alliance effort). I'm leaning more towards some ancient Red Kojin treasure vault, and they've tricked us in Kugane before during tribe quest.

Not sure about the financial dire state, could just be we overstayed too long, and operations back home go unattended without Tataru.

Between doing everything it can to support two rebellions across two continents plus the fact that there are lesser Scions involved still in tracking and watching the Beast Tribes to make sure they aren't summoning primals, combined with the fact than frankly the organisation is far less centralised and you can see why expenses might have started to become an issue. The Scions have tended to be fussy on what revenue streams they accept and its possible they haven't fully been rebuilt since the Scions fall from grace.

So the Hells' Lid preview does directly mention the missive being for the one who laid low Susano'o. That said, tales of our exploits have still reached as far as the Azim Steppe, so the need for proof of our competency still baffles me somewhat. (Keeping my Skallic gear for appearances; I like the sort of uniform look it provides.)

Tataru is with us in the "Jade Stoa" screenshot that also looks like it has something to do with Hells' Lid (the one with the kojin and the critters), so I'm still willing to bet that the Scions' financial ruin is a result of her gambling with mortgage-backed securities in Hingashi. Someone should tell her to invest in credit default swaps when engaging in that sort of business.

If they're going to make the Scions' financial state a plot point, yes, I am going to make jokes about it.

Why would people trust the Warrior of Light blindly if they don't know them personally? I think it's pretty great that the Warrior of Light isn't blindly accepted everywhere - and he should not be, in my opinion, simply because he brings a lot of baggage with him in the form of biased allies and a considerable amount of blood has been spilled by him. Realistically, with Kugane being such a diverse city due to being a major trading hub and neutral on the world stage there should be first hand accounts floating around of the not so proud moments of the Warrior of Light's exploits, too. Such as when they inevitably kill or maim someone's daughter, brother or lover simply because they're in the way of their objective or someone hands them a sack of gil to go and do it. A plot point which is often glossed over, unfortunately and one I hope very much to see tackled in the future. It was handled exceptionally well in Final Fantasy Tactics.

As for the financial issues, setting up operations in a foreign land is hardly cheap...and neither is funding revolutions and rebuilding efforts.

As far as Yotsuyu and Gosetsu are concerned, I'm calling it now:

    - Hien will be honour bound to pass judgement on Gosetsu for his past service to Garlemald if he intends to do the same to Yotsuyu. He may end up exiling both of them due to pressure from his people and the loss of Yotsuyu's memory will be an additional complication to consider. We'll likely see an Echo vision of Yotsuyu's past. She may or may not come to feel sadness on behalf of her 'brute' should she regain her memory.

That's assuming she isn't just playing a trick in a last ditch effort to try and take out Hien, mind you.

Elidibus will be Garlean Emperor soon under the guise of Zenos, calling it.
