at one point i was trying to farm SV for Capella (the AST wpn) and all i would ever end up with was copy after copy after copy of Ars Notoria (the SCH book). i got friends to help me once. then Capella dropped =p

i also wanted the two books from Castrum Abania (Ethica and Aurora) and time after time after time all that would drop would be the Samurai wpn. =p RNGesus

i was farming Skallic's caster body for 3 weeks(with countless runs) before i got one
even i asked my friend to go as caster so i can get one for sure...

then, i went for shiva ex solo for SAM/RDM weapon
after almost 30 runs i got nothing so i just /fume and gave up on this RNG loot box. *sob*

I do know you can get Jambiyas through retainer ventures as well, as my maids retainers have brought me back four or five of the things so far doing Quick Exploration over the past couple of years (they're junk gear to me so I just hock them for seals at the Adder's Nest).

As for dungeon drops, I don't know if it's just my paranoia at work, but I'm pretty certain the drop rate may be subtly influenced by party make up, in that an item that isn't equippable by a job or class that is currently in the party will drop more frequently, as that has been how drops have often been for me, but I don't know... maybe I'm just looking for things that aren't there...

I remember only ever seeing the Ancient Sword for PLD twice over the course of leveling all the classes through it between 2.05 and a patch or two before the end of Heavensward; it took the better part of three years for me to get this sword. ;u;

A re-color version of all SV-weapons is also available for wolfs-marks, aka from PvP. Unless you're set on their color, it might be worth a look!

Didn't know that i'll take a look, depending on how much it is, I loathe PvP but so tired of farming the place that I might actually do it.

RNGesus is a bish. I, too, was on the hunt for the ast weapon there and the ast weapon in lost city of amdapor (I think? It was that black planisphere) and it wasn;t until I gave up on farming it and happen to be in the dungeon that it finally dropped. lol

I don't think it's a bug, but something is way off about Stone Vigil drops, I've been farming the place for the Janbiya's for a week straight and haven't seen them drop. I've seen every other weapon drop in the place more than a handful of times. I've had my run of the mil back luck with RNG but this is ridiculous even for FFXIV.

Has anyone else experienced this with this dungeon specifically when farming for one or more of the weapons?

Curious to know if I'm just having the worst personal RNG ever or if there is indeed some issue with the weapon drops there?

Prior to finishing my white mage - I wanted a ruby tide cane....so I ran the "ruby palace" (Shiosu(sp?) of the Violet Tides) as I called it about a dozen times...the damn thing never dropped.
1 Month later....ran it again on roulete...

It dropped....

Yeah Ruby tide is another bad one, but I found out that if you Run I believe Temple of the Fist or which ever drops Lotus weapons, it's just a recolor of the same model.

RNG is indeed a pain, but SV and the weapons for NIN, AST, DRK seem to be amongst the worst drop rate in the game, I honestly think there's a lesser drop rate for those weapons as they were added in at a later date.
