    [dev1238] Clarification on Upcoming Changes to Synthesis with HQ Materials

    Members of my linkshell swear that someone of authority stated that in the upcoming changes to synthesis when HQ materials are used exclusively, that we will no longer have the "Touch Up" action for finished items. Now, from what I've read and searched for on the forums, I cannot find anything to validate their claims. Does anyone have a link to a post where the devs made it clear about how this change will affect the ability to craft HQ result from not exclusively HQ materials? Did they really say Touch Up is being removed?

    When you consider [dev1239] being able to display the chance of HQ yield, doesn't that indicate we'll still be able to start with NQ materials and still have the same small chance we have now of created a HQ result?

    Also, I've seen it floated around that people think the new changes will make it so the use of exclusively HQ materials is a 100% chance of HQ finished item. Where was this confirmed by the devs? I assume that's in reference to [dev1238], but that post doesn't say anything that would suggest a 100% chance, just that using all HQ materials will have a much better chance at yielding HQ results. It also never mentioned that chance being exclusive to finished items.

    Thanks for your time ^_^

    I believe when Yoshida first talked about the crafting reforms, he discussed the changes to HQs. He had mentioned something along the lines of all HQ materials assuring an HQ. People were up in arms because it would essentially get rid of one of the few highlights of crafting if Quality/touch up didn't matter. I think you are right, and either they decided not to go with it, or maybe the translation or post wasn't entirely clear.

    Maybe having all HQ materials will push up the HQ chance so far up that it would pretty much guarantee an HQ since they want HQ'ing to be less frustrating and luck-based, but with recent information it seems the quality/touch up parts of crafting will still exist.

    It was from a really old post so I don't really want to go look for it lol ><;

    Still looking for confirmation of this. I'm a bit of a material packrat, but if the new system is going to require 100% HQ inputs to get HQ output, I, as well as other crafters would really like to have a heads up. Not because it would give us an edge, but because it would represent a radical change from how HQ results are done today (via touch up, or luck). Thanks.

    We definitely could use some clarification. The answer to what they'll do about crafting has been varied.

    They've said initially that using HQ mats will guarantee HQ results. Then that they would put in two crafting systems; insta-craft for NQ and a minigame for HQ.

    I think there was one other comment that offered a different concept of what they'd do, but I can't recall right now. A good place to look would be the "tour around the world" sticky in the general forums. A lot of these comments came from those interviews.
