Water is hot and fire is wet. /sSome people on this forum would argue about fire being hot if the mood struck them. Like the game could just add a feature where Yoshi P break into your house and punches you in the stomach if you mess up a rotation and people could go "maybe don't do that???" and there would be someone going "OMG YOU BABIES CAN'T TAKE A PUNCH IN THE GUT BUNCH OF CASUALS WANT EVERYTHING GOOD NERFED".
Wow..just wow..I really hope that you will never have a health problem that will hinder you...thats just utterly childish especially as a reaction from a thread that was reasonable from the very beginning..none of the changes would be bad for the rest of the people, heck even without the problems I would probably use that because those sounds can get annoying..
Really..you could have the best request that would not negatively impact anyone and would make the game better and you would have still people that go around and put it down for "reasons".

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
it's like they don't want things in the game to make them like it more.
Yes, you can turn off all the sounds as system sounds don't pop up 24/7 and i have seen good use of macros sounds for new people in 24mans. But if YOU know them, why do you need to hear them? I sure don't need to in that case.
But that doesn't mean that macros should be with system sounds, as Macros is an own section.
People want Bard performance to be its own toggle, too
People want more hair
People also want beards
And people also want buttsliders
People want more glamour options
People want dyeable NPC clothes from the mog station
People want male bunny outfits
A lot of these things are just QoL things, too and even if i don't need to have all of it, it won't kill me if we get a butt-slider.
They won't take away your shiny new toys because a few people work on an extra checkbox and that checkbox is not going to kill your fmaily, either.
So you're looking like "i don't want it so its stupid and nobody should want it and it should never be a thing because i don't want it" to me and I don't really understand to why.. But well, to each their own.
going back to the topic at hand hopefully they might do something similar to leagues sound sliders. without checking (currently in work) i know in league you can adjust the volume of background noise from 0 to 100% character voice 0 to 100% and sound effects 0 to 100%.
so example back ground noise would be music and ambient noises. character voice would be voices of player characters npcs and enemies. and sound effects are noises like attack sound effects pings and boss que noises.
So something like that may work better then the tick box for you as you could adjust depending on your tolerance level for the day.
The idea with option where you can silent all macro sounds is really great! I think this option should be added ASAP. I glad I'm not in such bad condition anymore but when I had regular panic attack such sound could cause a lot of harm for me and it's beyond any my control. For the people who suggest that with such heath problem we need to stop playing - that's harsh and mean. No one asking to nerf whole game, it's just really good idea how improve it for everyone.
I’m going to burst these haters bubbles here. Gaming is theraputic for those who are unable to do much in the real world. A disability isn’t something we proudly tout as an excuse; if I could handle the stresses of actually working without my physical and mental handicaps, I flippin would. Whoever proudly toutes it as an excuse... blegh to them. What we are asking for is an option so that we can enjoy the game too.
Without gaming, I would never have started socializing with people again. Through the benefits and safety of being behind a screen, I got a chance to get to know people and their personalities. I’m learning social norms with people I didn’t have before. I am keeping my mind sharp, tuning some fine motor skills, and not just sitting there staring at a TV or sleeping through my entire day. MMORPG games like this allow me to combine reading, gaming, and getting involved in the storyline, and a game is great for a distraction of physical woes.
I’m getting plenty of sleep - sometimes too much sleep. Plenty of rest. I have a family and dogs, but a ton of spare time. Asking for an option for something that has largely benefited me isn’t bad. I met my RL boyfriend of 3 years through an MMO - we’re preparing for me to move in.
So please; I get plenty of rest. I am eternally bored without video games, and an option to remove the irritation of macro sound effects, the ONLY complaint i really have about this game, would make this even more beneficial to me.
I don’t need a lecture of “Oh you’re disabled you shouldn’t play.” My psycologist has been hugely supportive of the social steps I have made through MMOs.
It’s an option to disable ONE irritant.

We’re all advocating for the type of game we want to see. Mine just happens to clash with yours. I like a story driven game, where people can come together as a community, and defeat challenges based on a PVE format. I want to work together. [snip] You’re not gonna like what I say, but I’m gonna say it regardless because I want Square Enix to hear the other side.
I been harassed a few times asking people to take out macro calls out of the macros because some can trigger me like this. Also it would be nice if we had options to use where the macro call noise settings are not linked to what we attached to important chats. Because I am sound sensitive in learning.. i guess you can call it? I get confused if someone is trying to talk to me that puts the same noise in a raise macro (and in my view I do not use common ones)
Edit, i like to add more cases then not, people just take the sound out. But it is still irritating to be harassed over something this minor for the few times I am given a hard time over. It can be prevented with volume options.

See, what saddens me is that there will be trolls and harassers who openly use things that cause annoyance like macro sound effects and it is disheartening that there are even those who admitted they use them or plan to use them here...

Could try using Discord or Vent if learning perhaps your FC has one set up. It is a hassle, and will take time, however I myself would not change my pings if they are being used for productive purposes. Can always mute and then go back after you leave that particular group.I been harassed a few times asking people to take out macro calls out of the macros because some can trigger me like this. Also I doubt it's harassment, mostly people don't see the point of changing their settings or play style for one person. We all pay membership, however even in raids it seems people ignore mechanics and need to be reminded and unfortunately we have to use pings. It's a must in MMO for some sorry.
While there are plenty of trolls, I doubt most people do it with ill intent.
