Sorry but that's EXACTLY the pvp mindset we have to keep away from FFXIV by all meansGive me some good ole PvP areas where anything goes. Ready to slaughter some noobs.
Some of the best times I had in Aion were dominating lower level players. Some might think that is stupid or immature, but I got dominated several times myself. What goes around comes around.

Why? The zones were clearly marked as PvP areas. There was only one area at that. The only rewards you could really obtain from the area were PvP rewards?
Hell, there were even times me and a bunch of other 40s took down a level 50 or two. Super controlled PvP is boring PvP. The unexpected is what made it so fun.

im talking about the "im going to pwn tha NOOBS to pet my ego because i was killed by some douchebags too" mindset, nothing good can come from thatWhy? The zones were clearly marked as PvP areas. fortunately, as yoship presented the current plan for pvp this will not happen anyway
edit: also you cant compare it with aion really, there are 2 factions that cant even communicate with each other, in that kind of game players of the other faction just become "those damn asmos" and stop being other players in your eyes. with the ffxiv setting this isnt possible in the first place

I am fairly sure by this comment that you have little to no experience in any substantial form of PvP. Let me show you by example how it can be fun and profitable:
- Travel to PvP Zone. Everyone in this zone is in danger of PvP, if they don't want to be, get out. There are only PvP rewards in this area, they have no reason to be there otherwise. If they want to carebear they can stay in the PvE zones.
- Go to popular grind spot, kill any of the other faction you see. In Aion it was Asmos or Balaur, in FFXIV it would be the two opposing nations.
- Kill whatever is there, regardless of level. You are profiting your nation by keeping other nations down.
- Players tell their faction that a bunch of 50s are there dominating, 50s from other faction appear.
- Either win against these players for AP or lose (to the satisfaction of the previously whipped players).
Not quite. Aion already has an area where Asmos/Elyos can co-exist (though, the text is still garbled, but everyone communicates via Bazaars comments anyway), and I hear the next patch is going to implement Asmo/Elyo co-op events.edit: also you cant compare it with aion really, there are 2 factions that cant even communicate with each other, in that kind of game players of the other faction just become "those damn asmos" and stop being other players in your eyes. with the ffxiv setting this isnt possible in the first place
Also, there were official/unofficial forums where the players often intermingled, and even cooperated several times against the NPC race Balaur.
The point is this: Getting your butt handed to you in a sanctioned arena match vs getting your butt handed to you in a sanctioned PvP area isn't really different. Now if you were having to say do an event like Sky or Sea or something FFXI while another race swooped in and completely ruined it, I would say that's a big no go; however, your ideas against PvP are pretty much paranoia.

i stopped playing aion quite a while ago cause i got kinda bored quickly when i reached lvl cap on my spiritmaster, back in the day the factions were complete split and nothing more than "that damn other guys i kill every one of them when i see them", and the pvp "rift attacks" were always more of a annoyance for me than fun, getting gankd several times by higher level players when traversing an area (from that forest area to the desert) with another objective in mind was NOT fun. thats why pvp should have its place and stay there in my opinion.I am fairly sure by this comment that you have little to no experience in any substantial form of PvP. and i was actually referring to this sentence of you:
in my opinion "dominating" other players only produces people that do the same to others later, its a breeding ground for bad attitude between players. unless they willingly participated in pvp and were underleveld for the area that's something different of course. i just know from my time in aion that it sucks alot when you get dragged in unwillingly (aka random portals other faction guys come thru to "hunt noobs")Some of the best times I had in Aion were dominating lower level players. Some might think that is stupid or immature, but I got dominated several times myself. What goes around comes around.
FFXIV is not a pvp centered mmo like aion after all, just because pvp gets added doesn't mean that will change
